Well that brief belief that the Hatters had emerged from their poor spell, with wins against Millwall (a) and Sheffield Wednesday (h), came to a swift end.

Last night, down at Home Park, despite having the best of the opening eight minutes, Luton Town slipped to a 3-1 defeat against a Plymouth Argyle side who looked a far better team than we did.

If travelling circa 500 miles, to get to and back from the former naval fortress, wasn’t bad enough then watching the fare dished up by the Hatters only compounded to our misery, indeed, I was thankful, during the drive home, I was fortunate to be a back seat passenger and managed to get some sleep.

Our hosts, whenever they had the ball, looked far sharper than us, constructing moves with some slick passing and three finishes we could only dream of. The Hatters just looked as if they were going through the motions, losing possession far too easily, wasting those precious few chances that came their way and generally looking lacklustre.

Those dreams of climbing the table and making a promotion challenge, look far-fetched now and, to me, we’re more likely looking as if we’ll be scrapping to get out of the bottom half of the table come next May.

With Carlton Morris ruled out with a quad injury, Luton Town’s injury list was further lengthened when both Teden Mengi and Tahith Chong were forced off with injures, something you cannot plan for.

But the form of Elijah Adebayo continues to perplex me, once again, although his effort cannot be criticised, his finishing was woeful. One chance when he was in a one-on-one situation, the ball got stuck between his feet, whilst a second chance, a clear header from which he should have scored, sailed woefully over the bar.

Perhaps one of the few positives points was Victor Moses who showed Adebayo where the goal was, to give us brief hope that we could rescue a point with a 2-2 draw, but it was not to be.

Now, with a home fixture, against Oxford United, this Tuesday, we can only wonder what lies in store for us, the supporters, more misery!

Hard as it may be to face it so far Edwards has used Jones players and tactics to get us promoted on the back of his work.then thanks to a pair of players managed to make a fist of trying to stay up.Now he’s brought in his own players and yet they have so far not improved us in fact we’re worse. I say it yet again he’s a one trick pony. He’s got no imagination and is to stubborn slow in subbing things when we are poor. It’s going to be long season and a hard watch.

It’s difficult to disagree with you Cris. I watched the match and it was dire. I watch the LTST podcast and the 2 boys there keep saying re wants to play out from the back. We do not seem to know how to. Play it between the back 3/5 + keeper, get pressurised and then long ball. Same as NJ but slower. Plymouth showed how to play the short ball through the middle. I keep hoping something will click into place but see no evidence.

Very poor showing all round. I do wonder who thought mcguiness was a good buy. Completely off the game.
