Transfer windows can be brutal affairs with players leaving and players arriving.
This summer no different with, following our relegation from the Premier League, fears existing that some of our star names would be leaving.
That proved to be the case with Ross Barkley and Gabriel Osho both leaving for pastures new.
Now there was also speculation that a certain Alfie Doughty could be heading for the exit door, after his performances for the Hatters over the last two seasons.
But despite those fears, the summer transfer window closed with Alfie remaining a Hatter.
Earlier this week, the news broke, courtesy of the – Official Site – that the attacking defender had put pen-to-paper on a new contract, thereby ending fears that he could, having stayed during any summer transfer window speculation, he could leave in January.
Doughty is a regular member of our starting XI and is a key component of the team.
Okay, his crosses have yet to hit the heights of his previous two seasons with us but it is, perhaps, fair to say that the whole team has been underperforming, so far, in the EFL Championship this season.
Hopefully, with his new contract in his back pocket, Alfie can kick-on this season, thereby benefitting the Hatters as they chase promotion for a second time in three seasons.
