Luton Town – For Dartford, Lincoln And Woking Read Derby, Manchester United And Watford

|

The good times are definitely back.

It does not seem an age ago that Luton Town were playing non-league football.

Hit by a harsh, draconian punishment, the club slipped into the Conference back in 2009.

It took the Hatters until May 2014 to climb back into the Football League, between those years we came close but fell so close to the line.

Those were hard times, I often wondered if the Hatters, the team I had grown up supporting, would regain their Football League status or fade into oblivion.

How far we have come in the last few years is illustrated perfectly by our next three fixtures.

On Saturday we welcome Derby County to Kenilworth Road for a Championship fixture.

The following Tuesday we welcome Manchester United to Kenilworth Road for a 3rd round Carabao Cup tie.

Then, on the Saturday, the team will make the short trip down the M1 for their first fixture against Watford, in the league, for many a year.

All three clubs have differing elements of glamour about them, all three are, or were recently, playing Premier League football.

It is a far cry from the days of the 2013 / 2014 when, in our Conference winning season in the same period, we played Dartford (h), Lincoln City (h) and Woking (a).

In those three games, the Hatters registered three victories, I wonder if Luton can get three victories in the hugely anticipated games to come?
