Luton Town – Elland Road Beckons

This Wednesday evening the Hatters are back in action when they face Leeds United in an EFL Championship fixture.

Although the Hatters picked up a most welcome three points, at home, against Hull City, last Saturday, the game, at Elland Road looks to be a task and a half.

Whilst the win, against Hull City, lifted Luton Town to 16th place in the league table, the performance, to be honest, was more of a resilient and determined one than entertaining.

After the poor start to the 2024/2025 season rebuilding our fragile confidence and belief will take more than one win.

Our opponents, on Wednesday night, Leeds United, sit on top o the EFL Championship table and have ambitions of claiming one of the two automatic promotion places to regain their top-flight status.

They are on a decent run of form, taking 13 points out of the last 18 available with a run of 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat.

When it comes to goals scored, they have accumulated 28 goals, only Middlesbrough (remember them) have scored more, with 29.

But, perhaps, we can take hope from the fact their defence is only the 3rd best in the EFL Championship, lurking behind Sheffield United and Burnley.

Also, the Hatters will have to contend with one of, if not the most vociferous support in the EFL Championship.

All-in-all, it looks as if it could be a tough night for the Hatters and some supporters I’ve spoken to are fearful that it could end up in a similar way to the trip to Middlesbrough.

But, on the other hand, is it not the kind of fixture we should be relishing and looking, like we have done several times in the past, to shock the pundits and snatch what would appear, on paper, to be an unbelievable result.

Morning MH, whilst like you I fear a drubbing is on the cards. I am not going to be at all surprised if we get some sort of result up there it may be we will be uplifted by playing them.

I don’t hoe we play if we can come home with something that will help build confidence and we can start to pull away from the bottom three . I am not looking for free flowing football from the next two games just something to get us moving. COYH

stay positive. bell seems to settle this team, i hope he makes it back. stop the long ball, play through krauss, chong, and whoever else plays there. holmes has got to start, he has got so much grit and determination, hope he can give some to the rest of the team. always hopeful. COYH.

Anyone else looking at Andre Gray’s goals for Plymouth and thinking we missed a trick in not giving him a chance to bolster our flimsy attack?
