Luton Town Come Up Short Against QPR

Is it a full blown crisis or just a minor blip as the Hatters continue to fail to register a win?

Last night, against an average Queens Park Rangers side, Luton huffed and puffed and despite taking the lead, lost 2-1 to the West London side.

The defeat meant that in their first four games, the Hatters have taken just 1 point out of the possible 12, more like relegation form than promotion form.

Naturally social media is alive with disappointed Luton Town fans airing their views, sadly many are uncomplimentary.

Being relegated, last May, from the Premier League, was always going to be a bitter pill to swallow and we always knew Rob Edwards would need to shuffle the pack, but, at the moment, things are not clicking.

Last night, after a slow start, the Hatters took the lead through an own goal from the Queens Park Rangers defender Dunne.

It should have provided Luton Town with the impetus needed to grab that first win of the season but, early in the second half, the game swung in the other direction after Adebayo missed a gilt edged chance to double the lead.

Suddenly, in the space of a couple of minutes, Queens Park Rangers had not only equalised but had taken the lead with Frey being instrumental in both goals, creating the first and scoring the second to give the visitors a grip on the game.

The Hatters searched desperately for an equaliser but, despite the introduction of Joe Taylor, only came close on a couple of occasions, notably when a shot from Morris was blocked and a header from Taylor cleared the bar.

Although getting that vital first win is a major concern, so is our inability to hit the net.

With a two week break between now and our next fixture, away to Millwall, some serious work needs doing down at The Brache to get our season back on track!

Rob Edwards is on borrowed time he looks out out of his depth both are strikers are not scoring goals Morris looks half the player he was last season defence wise and midfield are a massive issue I can see us going down this season relegation has really had a effect on the team tough times are ahead I’m afraid

  • Bill says:

I’m afraid I have to agree with everything Colin says. Morris has never been the same since he got the captains armband, he just runs around like a headless chicken. I have never rated Adebeyo so I won’t comment on his performances.

I feel it’s only a matter of time for Rob Edwards.

Let’s get real all our main men from last season are suffering for two years Morris has bullied defenders this year defenders are bullying him and he’s first touch has gone Ady is having what I call his shambolic period as is his nature . Doughty can’t cross for toffee an Chong is behaving like the show pony he is.The reason ? Maybe the hangover from last year I don’t know. Edwards has in the past been proactive in during games giving players time to change things round this season he’s been reactive last night was yet another example straight after they scored he stood hands on hips staring into space and only reacted with 12 mins to go giving Walsh an Taylor no time to impact on the game.Is there discontent in the camp or between coaches and owners? Again I don’t know but the whole situation doesn’t look good. We failed to sign a forward in the window so unless we are able to pick up a free agent quick we only have Woodrow and Taylor left. As usual the owners are keeping shtum about anything so we all have an opinion on what is wrong two weeks is a long time in politics and football.

i hope last night was as low as we can get. it won’t take much to turn this confused team to get back to winning ways, and scoring some goals. lots of people are quick to blame the manager, but its the players who need to step up, and start playing as a cohesive team. we have great and skillful players, lets see them step up and give the supporters something to cheer about. COYH.

  • Steve says:

This is an absolute shambles you can really see there’s a couple of players who don’t wana be there!!! RE needs to sort this very very quickly there doesn’t seem to be a plan A never mind a plan B , a striker who couldn’t hit a barn door and a defence weaker than a wet paper bag !! And to top it off with money in bank possibly our worst ever transfer window🤷‍♂️ said to my lad that season in PL has destroyed this club!! We know having. 25K stadium but at what cost the squad? Gary sweet will have his beloved power court but with L2 football at this rate!!! Rant over COYH ⚽️

  • Chris winter says:

I knew the moaning would start about transfers again and posted days ago about it.When will supporters learn that if clubs and players don’t want to loan a player to you there is nothing the recruitment team can do. They try their hardest to get players but if agents are involved then they can make stupid demands of a club as can other clubs wanting stupid money.i know of three definite attempts to sign players yesterday never mind the fanne which was done and dusted but held back.

    • Steve says:

      I’m
Not moaning I’m stating the PL season has in its way destroyed this club !! By this I mean everyone knows we have money so will naturally hold out for more!! this has to be the worst transfer window for us all the players gone hardly any replaced and sign a kid who isn’t coming till January that’s alot of good!! on top of that there were players on pitch last night who didn’t wana be there not naming them cos everyone could see no effort giving up wen losing ball🤷‍♂️ saying this living in Leeds I’ll be up at 4am for millwall as I was for an 11 hour round trip to Pompey for a 12-30 KO and Plymouth in a Friday night people might not agree with wot I say but I’m entitled to my opinion 😁

  • Chris winter says:

Steve the way it reads made it sound like you thought the club hadn’t tried to replace players but we were never going to be able to replace Barkley and Sambi like for like. And yet again we brought in a crock for nakamba not ideal.so I’ll apologise for missing what you meant.and I was making a broad statement across the board about the support not at you in particular.Good supporters are our bedrock and you are obviously one with your son.lets pray for improvement after the break

    • Steve says:

It’s all good yeah we tried to get players in but let’s hope now it’s closed these players who’s heads were being turned by rumours will start giving it there all again at least to January 🤷‍♂️ if they want that big move they need to prove to other teams they are worth a bid, a lot of supporters unfortunately are still in cuckoo land after PL I said this season would be a walk in park and like you say let’s pray for that improvement

  • Les Jennings says:

Les Jennings. I feel R Edwards’s has got rid of most of NJ players for no good reason the two players who have gone to Charlton were much better than two who play last night. The subs don’t get enough time when they come on to show what they can do let’s hope two weeks training and marvellous back will change things.

  • Chris winter says:

When we come back after the break I hope Edwards has the balls to change things. I would like to see a midfield of baptiste Walsh an krauss I know people will want nakamba but he has to be managed for now and not risked from the start an can’t be played for 90 minutes up front Taylor has to start and maybe Woodrow could be the partner not confident he’s scoring record is enough but if we play it on the ground maybe.otherwise one of the present donkey will have to do.in defence ruell has done well burke if he was only being nursed on McGuiness and bell in a back four.

    • Pat says:

Dont blame edwards board only want players for free so they can pump the money into the new ground they diddnt spend in the prem now they are doing the same so fans need need to wake up what they are but alls not bad i think we ll finish middle to bottom somewhere there perhaps in the long run some one rich would buy the club and is passionate about getting good players

  • Chris winter says:

Some interesting news came to me last night.Because of our performance and position in the league it has cost us two potential signings a young premier player has now signed for a rival at the top of the league and another player for the same reason. It seems like we have more problems than answers.
