Luton Town – Another Star Linked With A Move Away From Kenilworth Road

It is going to be a long 4-5 weeks before the summer transfer window slams shut.

I dread to think how many more of our top players will be sold to Premier League clubs wanting to boost their squads before the said window slams shut.

Yesterday, news broke, via several media outlets, including The 72, that Tahith Chong may well be the latest big-name star to be leaving Kenilworth Road.

Chong, or to use his full name – Tahith Jose Girigorio Djorkaef Chong – is a target of several Premier League clubs.

Signed from Birmingham City, on 14-July-2023, for an undisclosed fee, the Dutchman made 33 Premier League appearances for Luton Town last season as the Hatters battled, unsuccessfully, to retain their Premier League status.

During those 33 games he may have only scored on 4 occasions but his ability to run at defences; at speed, made him a very useful member of the squad.

Indeed, my thoughts were that, playing in the EFL Championship, Chong would have thrived and could well have been our player of the season.

Seemingly, the Hatters have put a £10 million price tag on the player, hopefully helping to deter any circling clubs from chasing his signature.

Personally, I hope Tahith stays but I know full well how the game works these days.

If the player, after his experiences last season, wants to play in the top flight of English football then he will and it wouldn’t surprise me one iota I he was sold ahead of the closure of the summer transfer for an undisclosed fee, probably in the region of £7.5 million.

The worst case scenario would be losing Tahith so close to the window slamming shut that there would not be sufficient time to bring in aa replacement.

Since when mh have we put a price on a player in the new owners era never !!!! All we hear is the club has been open for offers on anyone if the clubs valuation is met . So I’m taking this as a fake media story by a sky reporter

As CW says, I’m calling fake on this.

£10 million? You couldn’t replace him for near-enough double that. Unless he’s getting guaranteed 1st team time in the PL (and salary to match) I can’t see him leaving now.

Birmingham probably have a sell-on clause too, £10 million would be a joke.

I saw one report say 20 million so it does sound like fake news

I expect at least another 2 to leave Elijah and Alfie the prime targets
