Luton Town – A Surprising Poll Result Surfaces

After a very poor start to the 2024/2025 season, with the Hatters failing to register a win in their first four fixtures, Rob Edwards made a decision.

The gaffer opted to change his formation by playing just one striker, in place of his normal two.

As we are all aware, the normal two being Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo, a duo who, despite our relegation, fared well in the Premier League last season.

In the last two fixtures, Rob decided to start with Adebayo with Morris having to be content with a place on the bench.

Subsequently, the Hatters reward, points wise, from the last two fixtures, has been 6 out of the 6 available, a return appreciated by the Hatters faithful.

But in both games, it is fair to say that Morris coming on as a substitute has ably assisted Luton Town in getting a maximum return when it comes to points.

Indeed, it took a brace of goals from Morris, on Saturday, to secure the points for the Hatters, the first goals scored by a central striker, for Luton Town, this season.

Which begged me to ask the, perhaps, inevitable question:

Who Should Start v Plymouth Argyle?

with three options to choose from being provided:

Elijah Adebayo
Carlton Morris
Both

With the poll now closed, I can reveal there was a clear winner, with Carlton Morris taking 62% of the votes cast.

Elijah Adebayo only took a mere 8% of the votes with 30% wishing to play Both thereby taking us back to the formation that didn’t exactly serve us well during our opening four league games of the season!

Personally, I’d play Carlton as a lone striker but with back-up from just behind him.

Plymouth Argyle v Luton Town?

Plymouth Argyle to Win!

Plymouth Argyle to Win!

Luton Town to Win!

Luton Town to Win!

A Draw!

I go for any formation that doesn’t include Adebayo,
Whether it’s Mprris or Taylor or even Mick Harford up front keep Eli out of it.

I wouldn’t argue with that mh but who would you play? Chong not for me Clark again not for me Woodrow again not for me nelson possibly. Notice I’ve not bothered with Taylor as it looks like Edwards is to stubborn to forgive or forget about their disagreement and wants him rotting on the beach not the pitch

Actually one name does spring to mind now I’d forgotten he was available and can play anywhere why not put moses in there ?

we thankfully have good and varied options available for strikers. its easy to forget what a good striker elijah can be. all players have barren spells, and i agree that change is needed, but re and his team have the best insight who is best for the team as a whole. it just maybe the style of play , but until all the players click, it will be an uphill struggle. lets see what krauss and moses can bring to the team. good to see burke is playing well. Hi Jimbo, as you say we have the players it would seem to me that re and his team are totally unable to fit a jigsaw together.Maybe trying to put each piece in one place every time it would be better if they change their thinking and did something new but let’s face it they won’t so nothing will change in the coming weeks !!!!

My opinion for what it’s worth is we don’t know how to defend. Alfie galloped upfield with the ball. The other wingback did the same. We lose the ball it’s lobbed into the space and a cross and their player is all on his own. How many goals have we conceded in this way? If RE insists on playing with 3/5 at the back someone else needs cover for the wingbacks when they go forward?

Let’s hope Brown is back soon, was impressed with him before his injury. Clarke needs dropping ASAP, been woefully out of touch since his injury.

I would say Bayo was extremely isolated for the time he was on the pitch against Sheff Wed, he had little or no support and no one near him to pick up any knock downs hold up play etc, it was always going to be tough for him in that environment tactics were totally wrong. When Morris came on as good as he did the formation was hugely different and more supportive for him.

Secondly whilst I think Chong is brilliant he is far more an impact player for me, never seems to have the same impact on games that he starts (noticeable in the Prem as well last season, once dropped from starting our performances improved)

The solution is a simple one….Play Morris or Adebayo with Joe Talyor up top.
We need a natural goalscorer who will get 20 goals this season to get us back to the Promised land of the Premier League…Joe is the only one we have….Mick Harford gets it!!
The lad deserves a chance after going out on loan last season and doing the business.
He came on at Wembley in the biggest of all occasions, scored although unfortunately dissallowed then went onto take a penalty in the shootout.!!
I honestly believe he would have made a difference in January when Adebayo got injured instead of sending him out to Lincoln…He is raw, hungry and full of confidence….Right place, right time with the knack of scoring!!
I been a fan since 1968 and he is as good a goal getter as I’ve seen…Give him a run of games and you’ll see.Thanks.

Hi Stef very many on here agree with you.But you have to face the fact that we have a manager who is in denial about his tactics and has no plan b c d also as I’ve said previously he had a disagreement with Joe and his agent before the season and was going to sell him but instead had to drop it as he couldn’t get in who he wanted. Then parked his bum on the beach until he could get moses in and now he will rot until sold in January Edwards is a one trick pony and won’t put club first and give Joe a chance. We will lose a bright talent because of Edwards
