As we prepare for yet another international break, the third or fourth of the season, I’m so disinterested I stopped counting, something of a furor has broken out.
With Euro 2024 just around the corner a new range, as one would expect, of kits has been emerged, manufactured by Nike.
But the release of the kits, especially the home shirt, has resulted in a wave of criticism.
Nike, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to alter the colours of the St George’s cross that appears on the back of the collar.
Instead of being the traditional red and white, Nike have infused some other colours, one of them being purple.
Social media visitors are up in arms and are questioning just why the canges have been made and who at the Football Association approved the new kit.
Now whether the change will be reversed remains to be seen, I suggest not, but it would be interesting to see if sales figures fall, ahead of Euro 2024 affected or whether the wave of enthusiam that greets these international tournaments produces record sales, especially if England under Gareth Southgate, do well.
In a period where domestic football news becomes rare, what are your thoughts on this outrage?
