Hatters Match Zone

Luton Town 3 Swansea City 3

|

After coming back, in stoppage time, to grab a share of the spoils in their two previous Championship fixtures, Luton were the victims of a smash and grab injury time raid against Swansea City.

Things could not have gone better, for the Hatters, in the opening 45 minutes.

With just seven minutes gone, Luke Berry was on hand to score with a fine shot, to give Luton a 1-0 lead.

Matters improved in the fifteenth minute when Elijah Adebayo scored from the penalty spot.

Remarkably, in the twenty-third minute, things got even better for the Hatters when Adebayo netted again to make it 3-0.

It seemed a case of just how many goals Luton might score against a Swansea City side that looked to be very poor.

But it proved to be a game of two halves.

Swansea made three substitutions at half-time and were by far the better side in the second half.

The arrears were reduced in the sixty-third minute when Jamie Paterson scored to make it 3-1 and the visitors were well and truly back in the game in the eighty-sixth minute when Olivier Ntcham made it 3-2.

As the game entered stoppage time, the Welsh side grabbed a dramatic equaliser when Joel Piroe made it 3-3.

Next up for the Hatters is a difficult looking trip to Bournemouth next weekend.

    • Mad Hatter says:

you couldn’t make it up lol, how many games on the bounce is that we’ve lost someone in the warm up – THREE!

      • Andrew says:

I think what Alan is saying has to be looked at and taken in , the injuries we have and the way we play it is going to take it out of the players ok some of the players are not up to the job but they are are all giving their all . We have always had players in the team that are not quite at 5he level but leave it out on the pitch. We have to remember what has happened to us in past and 5ake our time I for one don’t what to see us like derby again that’s why our new stadium is not going to hold more fans we don’t want to be like mk Dons but we did take over forty thousand to Wembley , Brighton get thrity one thousand so why can’t we .

  • Colin Logan says:

Things need to be looked at with regards to the injuries we are picking up in warm-up something is clearly wrong should never of drawn that game yesterday I’m still in shock at the manner of it

  • Alan says:

Hi all, lots of cobblers being spouted about again questioning coaches and players again. I’ve said b4 we see the coaching staff in the dug outs but we don’t hear them or what goes on behind closed doors…them we have ” this player not doing this or that” and the “wycombe syndrome “….big mick not being present would not have altered harry hitting the post or slug not doing better with the 1st goal( I was right behind it in the Kenny and he should have saved it) both situations change the game.. we are sitting 13th for God sake. Look at some of the “big” clubs below us….I’ve been a physio for 35 years and I mix with many colleagues who work at various clubs, many on the golf course and I’m telling you now, hot from the clubhouse today, we have 14 players who won’t be in full training this week until at least Thurs if at all..also nj and the coaching staff were at the club until nearly 12 last night, so don’t, anybody think, they are not trying to improve things…13th place 4 games unbeaten, all be it draws…if we finish 13th, will that really be that bad….by the way big mick is doing fine and speaks with nk and Co nearly every day….enough said…..coyh….

  • Alan says:

Should have read” speaks with nj and co”….

  • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, I bow to your superior knowledge on medical matters. I have never seen anything like this in 50yrs its unprecedented. Sickness an injury decimating the squad but you have to understand to the ordinary supporter will question what is going on an what are all these coaches for conditioning an all these medical staff are doing. Also the goalkeeping coach. Under demetri kharine we never had a problem with keepers. An for nj to blame travelling for 2 games in a week so it doesn’t wash everyone else has to do it. An finally trying to defend a 3 goal lead from half time is a no no for a competant coach. Yes I think 13th is no mean feat in our situation an expect to finish around this by the end of the season or better. But nj is responsible for when players are not performing on the pitch an putting it right. No matter what the injury situation is we all have to work with what we have.

  • Alan says:

I agree chris, just letting people know the situation.as for 3 games in a week I think nj is trying to get across the 2 away 2 home thing the league have got into….you like me will remember the old days of 1 home 1 away…..

  • Chris winter says:

Yeah an games like Exeter away on boxing day an Carlisle on Easter Monday!!!

  • Alan says:

Exactly….obviously I can’t say to much but, after taking my frustration of Saturday out on a golf ball yesterday, heard quite a few things….nj at the moment is virtually tossing a coin on who he can pick, that won’t make injuries any worse. He gambled on 4 on Saturday, I know he did mention Naismith’s groin prob….I get just as angry and frustrated as all of us, but I get to hear some of the strange things going on st the moment. You know that I criticise as much as anyone when a player slacks, but at the present time this situation is crazy….the physio’s rooms are like a war zone and the fitness coaches are working their socks off to rectify the problems where they can….I don’t really understand the modern way that teams now have a warm up for up to a hour before the games tho, never used to back in the day….I guess all I’m trying to say is, from what I’m hearing, every player, coach and physio is just as frustrated as we are…. when everyone is 100% fit if they don’t perform I will he one of the 1st to moan…lol…coyh…

    • Chris winter says:

Alan you know as well as i do that no matter that you’ve now clearly spelled out the problems. There will still be people finding something to moan about lol. We can’t win mate. Maybe mh will write an article but don’t hold your breath it’ll still be us happy clappers trying to defend nj. And Paul this ain’t a dig at you it’s a joke mate 😁
