The Hatters continued their fine recent form beating Newport County, 3-1, at Kenilworth Road.

The win cements the Hatters place in the promotion pack with Luton Town sat in fifth place in the League two table with 21 points, four points behind the current leaders Notts County.

The Hatters were sent on their way to victory in the 12th minute when Alan Sheehan, the Hatters dead-ball specialist, scored direct from a free-kick.

With the goal providing the Hatters with some momentum, the lead was doubled in the 22nd minute when Danny Hylton scored from close-range.

The game was effectively finished as a contest in the 3th minute when the Newport County player, Ben Tozer, was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area.

Danny Hylton stepped up to score his second goal of the game and Luton Town an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Newport County performed a little better in the second half and reduced the arrears in the 55th minute when Joss Labadie saw his volley beat Stech in the Hatters goal.

Next up for Luton Town is an EFL Trophy Group F match against Barnet, on Tuesday, followed by a League Two fixture at Accrington Stanley next weekend.
