Luton Town 3 Forest Green Rovers 1 – Match Stats

Despite comprehensively beating Forest Green Rovers, at Kenilworth Road, any slim hopes the Hatters had of becoming League Two champions were dashed when news filtered through that their rivals for the title, Accrington Stanley, had beaten Lincoln City to be crowned League Two champions.

But, the 10,029 inside Kenilworth Road were appreciative of the fact a season of hard graft had ensured Luton Town would finish in second place and will be playing in League One next season.

Against Forest Green, Luton took the lead when Danny Hylton scored his 50th goal for Luton but were pegged back, in the second half, when Christian Doidge equalised.

But, a late assault on the Forest Green goal, saw the Hatters clinch victory with two late goals from Ollie Lee and Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

The Hatters finish their campaign with a trip to Meadow Lane, to take on Notts County, next weekend.
