The Hatters slipped to a third consecutive League Two defeat, losing to promotion chasing Accrington Stanley at Kenilworth Road.

As a youngster I remember an old milk advert which featured Accrington Stanley and the advert ended with some cheeky looking kid, remarking,

“Accrington Stanley, who are they?”

At the time Luton Town were an established club, up with the big boys in the top two tiers of English football, how times change.

The win yesterday was Accrington`s seventh game unbeaten and lifted them into a promotion place whereas the defeat for Luton left them mulling over where it has all gone wrong and why our home form, at fortress Kenilworth Road, is so damn awful.

Yesterday, Accrington opened the scoring, two minutes into the second half when Josh Windass showed his pace on the right flank and delivered a cross that Scott Brown took great delight in sticking in the onion bag.

There was plenty of time for the Hatters to respond but they couldn`t and it looked more likely that Accrington would increase their lead with Josh Windass and Terry Gornell both seeing efforts go just wide.

Any hopes of Luton getting back into the game though were ended when Accrington did double their lead, in the eight-fourth minute when Tariqe Fosu provided a decent cross that was glanced home by Terry Gornell.

Mid-table mediocrity beckons for the Hatters this season I fear.
