After the disappointing defeat at the hands of Birmingham City, it is now time to look forward to the next fixture – Sheffield United (h).
As the Hatters prepare for their fifth fixture of the new 2021/2022 Championship season, we welcome another of those sides that were relegated from the Premier League, last season, Sheffield United.
Those who regularly visit Vital Luton Town will know that when it comes to our ‘Played For Both’ series, this season we are only featuring those clubs who Luton did not play last season, Sheffield United are one such club.
Therefore, delving into the history books, I have come up with the following starting XI comprising of players who have been associated with both clubs:
Goalkeeper – Andy Dibble
Defender – Rhys Norrington-Davies
Defender – Alex Baptiste
Defender – Paul Connolly
Defender – John Ryan
Midfielder – Peter Anderson
Midfielder – Don Hutchison
Midfielder – Allan Birchenall
Midfielder – Bruce Rioch
Striker – Paul Furlong
Striker – Don Givens
Substitute – Imre Varadi
Manager – Kevin Blackwell
As is the norm, please feel free to drop into our comment facility, beneath this article, the names of any players I have not included that you feel deserve a mention.

Luton – Boss Lost For Words After Birmingham Debacle
Having read this morning’s comments by nj I say he’s talking like a bear with the trots. A bad workman always blames his tools.
if we don’t get a good result on Saturday I dread to think how the support will react!
No me neither. Especially when the team is announced..
that’ll be an article for later in the week 🙂
Hi Chris where can I read nj’s comments. Being up in Northamptonshire don’t always get all info
Go to newsnow luton town. It updates constantly an gives anything luton related its the best for latest news. Also luton today.
I’m surprised that Bob Hatton didn’t make the grade. Many Blades supporters haven’t forgotten about Don Givens (40 years on), and his expert penalty taking!
Two very fine players, an thanks for lending us Davies a great prospect in the making
only room for XI I’m afraid, Bob Hatton is a good shout though
Didn’t “Happy” Harry Haslam manage both clubs?
I believe he did, wonderful times when he led us to top-flight footy
Yet again njs moaning about injuries tough it is what it is. Others have the same problem. So you set your team up an hope to minimise the damage. Its not that hard to work out. If that means playing 9 behind the ball with 1 up front for a few games so be it this is the toughest league in Europe. If we have to play ugly for a while so be it. I for one wouldn’t care if we played s**t for now as long as we never play like sat again
well said chris.do you think covid is playing a part in this slump in form.lets hope for better performance on saturday. they played down the right hand side more than usual against brum, was that tactical, and why was kioso subbed, especially for rea.i won’t go on about ruddock, everybody has seen what he doe’s. just a bad team performance.COYH.
Jimbo, clubs are supposed to manage covid to avoid spread. But who really knows if a player has been playing after covid. An how it’s affected him. Or if he’s shown no covid but has it!!!
