Regular visitors to Vital Luton Town, will recall that this kind of article was a regular feature this season.

Our intention this season is to only cover sides the Hatters come up against who we did not meet last season, plus those teams we encounter in our friendly fixtures leading up to the big kick-off.

Therefore, with Portsmouth visiting Kenilworth Road, this Saturday, for an attractive looking friendly fixture, I thought I would resurrect the series.

After a lot of thinking and consulting the history books, I have come up with the following XI, a side that contains some very familiar faces:

Goalkeeper – Jake Findlay

Defender – Richard Money
Defender – Steve Foster
Defender – Alan Garner
Defender – Russell Perrett

Midfielder – Cameron McGeehan
Midfielder – Matthew Taylor
Midfielder – Ceri Hughes

Striker – Brian Lewis
Striker – Ron Davies
Striker – Paul Walsh

Substitute – Steve Claridge

If you can think of any other players who have worn the shirts of both Portsmouth and Luton, please feel free to drop their names into the comment facility beneath this article.

Also, please be reminded that tickets for the fixture are now on general sale, grab yours and let us get a decent crowd inside Kenilworth Road for the first time in an age.

My mind may be playing tricks but didn’t the magnificent Brian Lewis play for both? If he did must be in the 11

    • Mad Hatter says:

He did Chris and he is in my XI 🙂

Think your find Graham Horn played for both clubs in the early 70s,very good Goalkeeper who previously played for Arsenal.Has since sadly passed away.☹️

          • Mad Hatter says:

Indeed he did, played on loan for Portsmouth before joining Luton, didn’t realise he had passed away. I can recall being down the front of the Oak Road stand, as a nipper, when a shot hit the post and he kissed the post thanking it for its intervention.

  • Chris winter says:

Just checked it out he did. An he was the architect when Colchester utd beat the mighty Leeds 3-0 in the F. A. Cup so he has to make the team even if its in goal as he took the gloves for luton in a game an was outstanding. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

  • Trent Hatter says:

Surely Rowan Vine should at least make the bench

  • Peter Galliver says:

What about Alan Brown in midfield? He was a Scottish international who played for Blackpool in the 1950s. He then left for Luton. He played for Pompey in George Smith’s team that won the Third Division.

  • JONATHAN SQUIRES says:

    Steve Claridge played for both
