Luton – They Played For Both – Burnley

This Saturday, the Hatters make the long trip north to take on Burnley in their first away fixture of the 2022/2023 season.

Last season, Burnley were relegated from the Premier League and will provide a stiff test for Luton Town as they seek their first win of the new campaign.

Burnley’s relegation also gives us the perfect opportunity to resurrect our ‘They Played for Both’ series with the Turf Moor based club not having featured before.

After a lot of thinking and researching, I’ve come up with the following starting XI (plus substitute):

Goalkeeper – Marlon Beresford

Defender – Graham Alexander
Defender – Clarke Carlisle
Defender – Chris Nicholl
Defender – Mitchell Thomas

Midfielder – Josh McQuoid
Midfielder – Alan West
Midfielder – Matthew Taylor

Striker – Phil Gray
Striker – Ron Futcher
Striker – Scott Oakes

Substitute – Andre Gray
