Yesterday, as the Hatters took on Portsmouth in a pre-season friendly, at Kenilworth Road, a game that ended 1-1, there was a new face on the bench.
As soon as the team-sheets were released, questions were being asked about one Reece Hutchinson!
It transpired that Reece, just 21-years-of-age, is a free agent who is currently on trial with Luton Town FC.
But what do we know about young Reece?
Aside from being 21-years-of-age, Reece is predominantly a left-back, at 5 feet 8 inches, he is not the tallest of players but size, as we know, does not always matter, after all Ashley Cole, the best left-back I have ever seen, was no giant.
Born in Birmingham, on 14-April-2000, Reece is a product of the Burton Albion Youth Academy who gained valuable experience playing in the Northern Premier League Division One South side, Romulus.
He made his debut for Burton Albion against Gillingham and has made a total of 43 league games for the club.
However, Reece, along with 11 other players, was released by Burton at the end of last season.
Whether Reece can do enough during his trial, with Luton, to be offered a contract remains to be seen, but I am sure you will join me in wishing the lad well in his quest to become a Hatter.

Hi all not sure another left back is needed, maybe another for the future I guess…..interesting chat after golf today regarding David pleat. As he was an answer on The Chase this week, we discussed whether, had he not jumped ship to spurs, would he have got the England job before the Turnip ?????
Hi Alan, definitely think the boy. Is for the u-23 squad not the first team. As for pleat his predilection for ladies of the night. Was a well-known open secret before he went to spurs an known to the F. A so was never going to get that job. It was run by the old guard then.. An although they were no better it finished his chances of getting the job
There was a lot of bull going around regarding his personal life. I used to know someone who knew him very well and the only way for spurs to get rid of him to bring venables in was to splash the so called story all over the papers…there was also a reason the story went cold fairly quickly afterwards too. Let’s just say he had a very good legal team….
That may be true Alan. But the Chinese whispers an jungle drums had been going on for 2yrs before in luton.
I’ve no reason to lie to you chris….and the person that told me was very reliable too….I know it was a load of bull….anyway the discussion was solely on football terms and had he stayed with us would he have got the call before turnip….just a hypothetical question and a bit of fun…
Alan I wasn’t doubting you just saying that rumours were rife in town that he was being seen about. For 2yrs before it broke. I have no opinion either way.
Yeah I know mate…just wondering what other people’s views on the question was…..
we all have chapters in our life which we have our regrets about!
Blimey, a light hearted conversation after golf had turned into something very deep….wish I hadn’t mentioned it now ….
🙂
Isted re-signed. Might end the Walton issue now….
What i don’t understand is the club announced he was released. Yet it now appears that there was an offer on the table!!!!
Perhaps Isted delayed to see if there was interest from elsewhere
i think he was released from his contract,as all players who are out of contract, until they sign a new one, with the club or somewhere new.cant wait to hear next weeks story after the golf.?COYH.
Ha, jimbo, after yesterday’s response think it will be kept in the bar…lol….
