Yesterday, after publishing an article related to transfer speculation, it appears that I’d omitted two possible targets.
After reading the article – luton-the-transfer-speculation-xi-revealed – one of our regular visitors, Chris Winter, reminded me that we had also been linked with Alex Smithies and Luke Freeman.
Now, considering the Hatters have already signed TWO goalkeepers this summer, in Matt Macey and Ethan Horvath, I think we can safely assume that Nathan Jones will pursue the signing of the Cardiff City keeper, Alex Smithies.
However, the interest in the midfielder, Luke Freeman, cannot be ignored.
Tracing back Luton’s interest in the player, we find that speculation suggests Nathan was keen to sign Freeman back in the January transfer window – Football Insider 24/7 – and that interest has, seemingly been revisited – Examiner Live.
But is it a move that could materialise?
My view is that if the 30-year-old, who was on loan at Millwall last season, does become a Hatter then he would add to an already, numbers wise, over-populated midfield department and that his possible arrival could see the departure of a couple of players.
But if the speculation has good foundations, then Nathan, to be interested twice in the matter of months, must seriously rate the player.
As is the norm, I’ll sit poised ready to publish any further information that comes my way.
