Luton – The Danny Hylton Conundrum

Image for Luton – The Danny Hylton Conundrum

Last weekend, when Luton played Sheffield United, keen-eyed supporters may have seen Danny Hylton being put through his paces on the pitch, ahead of the game.

Hylton was one of those players that many tipped, including myself, to be a probable departure during the summer transfer window.

However, it was not to be, with the injury Danny is currently recovering from, preventing clubs from negotiating a loan or a purchase of the player.

After all, would you sign somebody who has yet to prove his fitness?

But, returning to the social media traffic, posted on transfer deadline day, it would appear that there are mixed feelings when it comes to the future of a striker that has served us well during his time with the club.

Some I discovered, are appreciative of what Danny has done for the club and want to see him given the chance, once again, to prove his worth, as the posts below illustrate:

But others, do not see it that way and feel that the club would be best served by moving the striker on:

Personally, I feel that unless Danny can prove his worth to the side before the January transfer window opens, his Hatters career could soon be coming to an end.

But is that a view you concur with?

Please feel free to have your say on the subject matter in the comment facility beneath this article.

Danny has given so much to LTFC but with him being rather injury prone and no longer a real contender for a championship place his time has come. He is a favourite of both the fans and Nathan Jones in the next few months use him to pass on all his skills, tricks and experience to the younger strikers. Missing Mick Harford he can help so much in developing these up and coming strikers . Come January with him hopefully being fit again he would provide a great deal for a league 1 or 2 team and would finish his career with great pride.

Morning MD, I have said a few times my views on king Danny would love to see him stay with Luton in some sort of role but if not hope he can find another club as I think he has lots to get other players . I wish him all the best in what ever he does go to do . Coyh

He should have gone LONG ago . how much have his wages been for 2 crock filled seasons ? probably somewhere at LEAST half a million if only on 5k a week !!
Elliot Lee was younger & hungrier, TRAJIC he was never given a decent run. I hope he proves his great talent at Charlton & forces Nathan to recall him in the January window .

Come Roby , who is going to take him if he is crocked . Maybe we have held on to some of the players that got us up to the championship to long but I don’t think Elliot Lee a championship player.

So no real surprises in champ squad Berry an hylton in even though we don’t know when they will be fit yet kioso sent out an perriera who nj said needed to go loan stays. Not happy about that felt both shown enough to be in squad. He has to make sure that we perform from now on.

  • Alan says:

Hi all, there is more to kioso being sent out loan than we know….but we move on….

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, I don’t know if this is true or not. I’ve been told that an assurance was given that he would be allowed to fight for his place this season. An renaged on he desperately wants to play games so he said if not in the 25 he wanted to go on loan so he was playing regularly.

i think he might be staying at m.k. not happy ,but as you say, move on.COYH.

  • Alan says:

Same as, but like we have said before he wanted out….

  • Chris Bedford says:

How on earth can you describe this as a “conundrum” ? He hasn’t scored for two years, struggles to overcome regular fitness problems and made little impression in his , admittedly few Championship appearances. He’s well down the pecking order for selection, so even if fit he’ll struggle to make the bench.

None of this was entirely unexpected and the wisdom of awarding him a two year contract was clearly questioned at the time.

    So what’s the conundrum ?

  • Chris winter says:

If that was the case mh. Then what are we paying Paul Hart to do!!!! He should be doing mh job but to be honest I have not seen do much since he’s been here!!!

  • Mark says:

Chris. I agree with you about Paul Hart. Over the years our defensive shape has been shambolic at times and I was left wondering what Paul Hart – a former centre half himself – does with them on the training pitch

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Mark, I was given to understand when he joined he was to be njs mentor as well as good mate. But mh spent all his time on the training ground as well as scouting in the evening and his other duties. What do we hear about Hart nothing!!! So what does he do?

  • jimbo says:

i fear if we played hylton, the chamoionship defenders would eat him for breakfast. him and ruddock have done good things at this club, but its time to part company with both of them. we must get players who can perform in the championship. we have good players, get them fit,and crack on. COYH.

  • Clive Batchelor says:

Sadly we now have a number of players who having served us well in leagues 1 & 2 are now just making up the squad numbers and sadly need to be moved on .
If we are too sentimental with our decision making it could cost us come the end of the season plus the wages saved could be used to bring in a couple of genuine contenders .
