Luton – The All-Important Question

For Luton Town FC, the 2021/2022 season is over, on reflection it was a remarkable campaign that exceeded all expectations.

Making the Championship play-offs was a remarkable achievement and one I, for one, didn’t anticipate at the start of the season.

But, having reached the play-offs, it is probably fair to say that our expectations for next season have been raised.

If that is the case, then the squad will have to be duly strengthened.

Nathan Jones, as mentioned by Football League World has already confirmed the search for new talent, via the transfer market, has begun.

But, looking at the squad that Nathan has at its disposal, which area, goalkeeper aside, needs strengthening the most?

Which Area Should Luton Look To Improve Most?

Defence!

Defence!

Midfield!

Midfield!

Attack!

Attack!

Obviously, there will be departures to keep the squad balanced and the finance available will dictate who the Hatters could capture, but, here at Vital Luton Town, we’d certainly be interested in your thoughts on this subject matter.

Morning mh, all over the park is my answer a full back dynamic midfielder an a 15 to 20 a season goal getter. Sadly most are out of our budget. So let’s see what we get in.

Whatever the management do, won’t please everyone, but I’m sure they will pull out all the stops….

OK mh, this is not a spanner in the works job. I’ve thought long and hard before posting it. For an improvement on this year’s finish. Start at the top the manager needs to go from being a good coach to a great coach by changing his mind set. His being a heart on sleeve coaching is hindering us first playing trusted players when they have underperformed. A great coach plays players in form. At crucial times in games his heart rules his head. Great coaches just as animated pitchside are cold headed thinking what do I need to do to put it right. An get a result. To often he uses his heart an we don’t. All season this happened an the points lost cost us automatic promotion. So maybe he needs to trust all his players from the start. This season proved that every player was worth their start an those who went out of form should have been dropped immediately.

good post Chris, it’ll be interesting to see what the response is

Totally agree with Chris. NJ needs to improve – he has his favourites and no matter how bad they play they get in the team-NJ is still a novice manager and must improve next season – his immaturity was show when he made those racist comments about Northerners after the Huddersfield game – I am glad we did well this season and got to sixth which was a fantastic achievement but also glad we did not get to the Prem – we just do not have players of that quality – I dont want to see LTFC get the record of the worse ever performing team in the Prem of all times – we need players that would not embarrass us if we go up – who do we have thats go enough – maybe only Burke, Bree, Campbell imagine Pelly trying to play in the Prem! He was the worse performing midfielder this year on Sofascore, never made team of the week and was only a bench warmer for the DR Congo- yet he played over 30 times for us this season – time to offload Pelly, Lee, Potts, Hylton and start with some new faces. I wish them all the best for the future but NJ must think with his brain and not his heart.

  • Alan says:

2 games from the prem….look at the “big clubs” who finished below us……enough said

  • Alan says:

A good coach who is also an “idiot”….lol….
Get your points chris. I just get a bit defensive as I’ve worked for the last 3mths day in day out with the staff ( which I wasn’t expecting to do) and I’ve seen how bloody hard they have worked, not getting the reward they deserved…..roll on next season….

  • Chris winter says:

News just in we’ve approached 2 agents with enquiries about whether clients of theirs would be interested in joining us.

  • Alan says:

Not letting the grass grow are we…..could be interesting…..

  • Alan says:

Def not. He was never on the radar as a permanent signing….
