Late yesterday afternoon, (Thursday), news broke that Luton Town and Peter Kioso had parted company.
Our article – player-leaves-kenilworth-road-for-rotherham-united – confirmed that the versatile defender had joined our Championship rivals, Rotherham United, for an undisclosed fee.
The deal quickly became the subject of social media discussion and it appears that a fair few of the Hatters support did not wholeheartedly agree with Nathan Jones decision to offload the player, as the following posts illustrate:
Never had a fair crack of the whip in my opinion

Now that's a shame. I thought he'd been working himself into contention during last season and starting to look more confident on the ball. He was one for the future.

This is an AWFUL decision.

But others were understandable of the reasoning why a deal was concluded:
Not going to cry about it, Bree was improving every week and Kioso wasn't getting a look in. Cash in now as he only has a year left and buy replacement

A fair point, unless Bree also departs, as the transfer speculation suggested earlier this month – another-key-defender-linked-with-move-away.
But perhaps the writing was on the wall with Kioso having been sent on three loan spells since Nathan returned to the club, prompting one poster to remark:
Just got the feeling he wasn’t a “Nathan Jones Guy”. Shame he’s gone as I think he’s quality, good move for Rotherham, hope he smashes it

Yes, Kioso will smash it at Rotherham, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he hits the net when the two sides clash next season, football has a habit of doing things like that!
