Luton Striker Linked With Big Money Move

One common theme throughout this summer has been the future of Elijah Adebayo.

On several occasions I’ve suggested that the Hatters might be in danger of receiving a bid for the 24-year-old striker that could be too good to turn down.

But, despite my misgivings, in a summer poll, you left me in doubt that Elijah would be remaining at Kenilworth Road – luton-support-believe-this-player-is-definitely-staying.

But, this morning, I’ve awoken to the suggestion, courtesy of Football League World that there is major interest in the prolific striker.

According to our source, the American outfit, DC United, managed by Wayne Rooney, are looking to lure Elijah stateside.

Apparently, DC United are looking to secure Elijah for the sum of £4.15 million.

Which begs me to ask the questions, is that figure high enough for Luton to accept and with Cauley Woodrow and Carlton Morris added to the squad, could we afford to lose our top scorer from last season?

I’d be disappointed if Elijah were to agree to the move, I always thought that any interest would come from a Premier League club willing to take a punt on the lad, not from a league whereby players tend to join at the end of their careers.

But what are your views on the subject matter?

Any move to MLS will ruin his career he needs to have another full season with us and then make a move to Premier league!
And £4.15m that might get his left boot insulting offer to luton town if they and bloody Rooney want him come back with a 15m + bid not saying I want him to go but that sort of money will be hard to reject , even then Elijah must know you only go there for 1 last big pay day

Spot on. Especially as Walsall probably have a sell on clause taking a chunk of the transfer fee.

Come on mh, let’s be realistic here this site is one of the worst at getting ltfc news right!!! First adebayo would be taking a step backwards not going to happen prm player in 2 yrs. Second four point fifteen million probably less than half what we want. Remember Justin a full back went for six at his age. So as a striker he’s probably worth twice that. This transfer is never going to happen.

  • Bob Jackson says:

If report is correct the quoted fee is ridiculously low.
Elijah will move on a some stage to an established Premiership club because he has the talent but he is still a little raw to make that move right now.
Dream on Rooney and COYH with Elijah upfront!

Why would he go to the USA? He has not matured properly yet and is a WIP – no club would risk their money on a one season wonder – the Championship will be more difficult this year as there are more top quality clubs involved – I dont think Elijah plays for money at this Stage in his career and NJ certainly wont let him go.

never be suprised what happens in this crazy game. don’t forget it is a business, and profits must be made. if elijah did go to nobody heard of f.c., he would be going way to far backwards in his career. i expect him to stay at luton for one more year, then have money talks. after that who knows. still hoping pereira gets in the squad.COYH.

  • Steven Meszaros says:

Hope he stays for another season coyh
