Tonight, Luton Town will take on Reading (a) in the 24th game of their 2021/2022 Championship campaign.

The support will be hoping that their team can continue the momentum generated by that wonderful last gasp winner, scored by Kal Naismith, in the thrilling 3-2 win against Bournemouth, last Saturday.

In that game Elijah Adebayo failed to find the net and cynics may point out that the young striker has not scored a Championship goal since 11th December when he netted against Fulham, neglecting to point out that the Hatters have only played one Championship game since then.

But looking at the statistics there is no reason to be worried about Adebayo’s scoring form.

As we enter the second half of the season, our main striker has 10 Championship goals to his name and if he can repeat that form over the second half of the season, we could have our first 20-league goals striker for the first time in a couple of years.

Back in August, you may recall that we ran an article / poll – how-many-league-goals-will-adebayo-end-up-with.

Reflecting on the result, it appears that 33% were predicting Elijah would net 19 goals and above this season, if things continue to go as well, those 33% might just be right!
