Luton – Stick Or Twist

Tomorrow (Saturday), Luton Town welcome Middlesbrough, to Kenilworth Road, for a Championship game.

With just three games to go, of the 2020/2021 Championship season, the Luton support will be hoping that their side can continue their recent fine form and finish the season in style.

As we mentioned earlier this week – a-top-eight-finish-is-possible – a decent finish to the season could see the Hatters finish as high as eighth in the table, a fine achievement considering the financial circumstances the club must live within, circumstances affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Here at Vital Luton, we are interested in what starting XI you think Nathan Jones will opt for on Saturday.

Will Nathan stick with those he knows, or could we see the blooding of a couple of our promising youngsters?

With the above in mind who dares to predict what the starting XI will be or who they would select and if you are brave enough, drop your predicted score line into our comment facility as well?

Simply drop your selections into the comment facility beneath this article.

Morning mh, I suspect that unlike warnock nj won’t choose to blood youngsters. He only uses unimportant games to bood them. So I expect little change.

    • Mad Hatter says:

I agree Chris, although to take the 3 points and climb the table is a decent priority.

    • Colin Logan says:

Keep the Sam 11 that finished the game at Bristol City Players deserve credit for there performances as does Nathan and his coaching staff have a good feeling about next season could be a force to be reconed with if we get some quality signings

We rarely blood any yougsters nowadays, so sad. Only Justin has come through in the last 7 or 8 years & before that only Kean & Jake Howells.

So so many of our top talented youngsters got snapped up very young by Premiere league clubs etc ., Norwich about to sell one for £25 to £30 million !!

In the past we had a conveyor belt of young talent look at Kingsley Black, Donague, Hartson, Upson, Boyce, Matt Taylor, Jack wiltshire, Curtis Davies, Foley, Leon Barnett etc etc .

That lot were in aprox 17 years late eighties & into the nineties.up to 2005

Since 2005 only 2 or 3 have made it to the first team, whilst a whole bunch have been snapped up young & made it with big clubs !!

This failure to blood & give them a chance led to top potential talent looking to other clubs to snap them up where they would indeed get a chance . ( Bristol city nicked Backinson , doing good now, we BOUGHT Morell from them ( Bakinson was their first choice ) & Morell looks like a bit iffy ?

I know the club & supporters have been hurting badly from the Relegations from Championship to Conference, & INSTANT sucess & promotion was seen as not risking blooding yougsters.

But for me its far more important for the last 3 games to see what talent we
For me this is way more important than how high we finish.

Remember Man U ‘s glory days were built on the solid foundation of the 1990.s academy players, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Butt, & the Neville Bros.

IF UNITED CAN RISK BLOODSING YOUTH WHY CANT WE ??

If we dont then more & more will look for the exit door asap or worse still not sign up for our acadamy at all, seeing no prospects !!

  • Paul says:

    Good post, couldn’t agree more.

  • Jonathan Newman says:

I agree with Dave in the Previous post. We give loads of chance to ” development ” players from other clubs, many many of which have been duds ( like Nombe , That Aaron guy , & lots of others ) why cant we at least give our OWN a chance ??

We even persisted with has beens for too long ,like Hylton.

I really like Elliot Lee ,hope he gets another chance next year.

Also Moncur fully deserves a final run & a new contract . very whole hearted.
