Luton – Speculation Over Striker Continues

With the mood among the Hatters support jubilant, I have stumbled upon something that could put a dampener on proceedings.

Lurking in the media, this morning, is the inference that James Collins could be headed for the exit at Kenilworth Road.

The good folk at Derby County News are of the opinion that their hopes of landing our Republic of Ireland striker, on a free transfer, have increased dramatically.

Aware that Collins is out of contract at the end of the season, those who cover the events at Pride Park, believe that the announcement from Preston, a rival for Collins signature, are signing Ched Evans on a permanent deal leaves the path open for them to sign our top scorer.

Now I am not the only one who believes that Luton Town will do as much as they can to hold onto Collins, as the social media post below infers:

Collins may have gone through a dip in form, but he is still our top goal scorer and the cool manner in which he despatched the winner, from the penalty spot with his first touch of the game, continues to endear him to the Hatters support.

Besides, if Collins does decide his time is up at Kenilworth Road, I am sure there will be more offers on the table as well as the one from Derby County.

Fingers crossed that Collins will put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Kenilworth Road with both parties agreeing terms.

Hi mh, I imagine all those who have been saying Collins is not a championship striker will be licking their lips at the thought. He could be on his way out of luton now. Sadly I don’t see it that way. Still if he wants more money then we can’t afford him. So we will just have to find another lower league gem to develop.

Hi Chris, collo showed class and bottle yesterday, even with one of their dickheads trying to scuff the pen spot up….fair play to matty pearson for spotting it….

morning all, i also would be disappointed to see Collo move on but to join one of the Championships basket case clubs who could well be playing in League 1 next season if Rotherham can string a few results together makes me think it’s not likely to happen, somewhere else maybe though as there is no transfer fee involved.
