The signing, on loan, of Tom Ince, on transfer deadline day, was greeted with mixed responses from the Hatters support.

Some thought his silky skills could benefit us for the remainder of the season, while others questioned why we had taken him on loan when he had seen so little first team action for Stoke City.

As for the gaffer, he was convinced that Ince, once fully fit, would be a valuable asset for the back end of the season.

Sadly, as reported by Luton Today, it has been confirmed that Ince will not play for Luton Town again this season.

Seemingly, the ankle injury he picked up in the Good Friday win, against Derby County, has turned out to be ankle ligament damage.

So, after 7 appearances, with just 3 of those starts, it would seem his career with us is over.

Nathan Jones, as reported by our previously mentioned source, conveyed the news to the media today, remarking:

“Tom Ince won’t play again, he’s done ankle ligaments which will keep him out for a little while which is really sad as Tom’s been excellent for us.

“We knew he needed a bit of time to gather pace, but the way he’s been around the place, the way he’s integrated, he’s had a massive impact.”

I am not quite sure his impact was that good, more of a case of Ince, sometimes, being on a different wavelength to his team-mates who could not see where his inch perfect passes were going.

However, continuing, Nathan went into detail with reference to what the majority of us do not see, his impact on the training ground, further adding:

“I can’t under-play the impetus he’s had with players here and players have seen the quality he shows, the way he conducts himself, how he’s integrated with everyone.

“He’s been a joy to have around and I think he’s really enjoyed it.

“It’s been a real shame as he was just starting to have an impact and gather a little bit of sharpness and pace, so that’s a shame.”

I guess some things are just not meant to be but, here at Vital Luton Town, we would like to take this opportunity to wish Tom a speedy recovery and thank him for his contribution to the cause.
