Luton On Verge Of Signing Defender

Earlier this week, the Hatter signed the Wycombe Wanderers player, Fred Oynedinma, it now looks as if a second signing might not be far away.

According to The Daily Mail, the Hatters are leading the race to sign Reece Burke from Hull City.

Burke, a centre-back, is 24-years-of-age and is a product of the famed West Ham Youth Academy.

He joined Hull City in 2018 and is available on a free transfer with his current deal on the verge of expiring.

Several other clubs, including Bristol City, Cardiff City, Millwall and Derby County, have also expressed an interest in the player, but our referenced source is convinced Luton are in the prime position to sign a player who was a prominent member of a Hull City side that were League One champions last season.

If that is the case, then I would say that Burke could well be the player to replace the Matty Pearson who left the club last week.

If the deal does go through, then Burke could be a signing that enables Kal Naismith to move into midfield and become the Hatters midfield enforcer.

It might still only be May, but this potential signing shows Luton mean to get their transfer dealings done early this season ahead of what could be an exciting campaign come August.

Recruiting Reece Burke certainly gets my seal of approval but how about you?

would be a great signing, hope it happens. just read article about joe morrel, sounds like he is a bit disillusioned with his role at luton. any thoughts on that.?COYH

Morning mh, As I have been told talks are advanced. But a couple of sticking points. So it’s not a done deal yet.

Yes believe that would be a great signing. However concerned to read that this allows Naismith to move into midfield as the enforcer I thought this was a role more suited to Glenn Rea? Naismith’s distribution from central defence to midfield and strikers was great to see and I feel this is his best position. I am concerned that we only now have two experienced goalkeepers on our books unlike most other championship sides who have three. We also need at least one more striker to support Onyedinma in our quest to increase the number of goals scored.

Morning hatter, I would have thought after rea’ s poor performances last season that tunnicliffe or naismith would be better options. Rea was rubbish last year an mistakes by him cost us 5 goals. And his distribution was non exist ant.

  • jimbo says:

agree rea was rubbish last year,i also thought ruddock was rubbish as well. if these two stay this year, would hope that better players are available for there positions. they both need to improve 100%. hope i am proved wrong.COYH.

pelly rubbish ? should he decide to leave i would see him as the biggest loss out of those leaving. Your comments are a polar opposite to what our captain said this week about him. We all sometimes see things differently and your obviously entitled to your opinion but calling a player rubbish who’s been integral to our rise up the leagues is pretty poor form mate.

Must admit thought Lockyer and Bradley made a great pairing before the injury. Assumed this would be the likely combination?

  • Paul says:

I have to agree with Jimbo, Pelly was very poor this season, only got away with it with the odd contribution.
yet still got selected every week, ahead of players that deserved better, and I wouldn’t stand on our captains comments on Pelly, as he was probably even worse, responsible for more than Rea’s 5 goals.
I wouldn’t have been fussed if all three had moved on.

  • jimbo says:

danny ,pellys performances this season have not been good,if he stays i hope he can improve. the amount of times he gets the ball robbed off him is not acceptable,he is supposed to start the moves, not lose the ball.this is based on this season, and i think other players should have taken his spot.as i said previously i dont hate pelly, just his performances.COYH.

  • Danny says:

you must of been very disappointed upon hear Sonny had signed, if pelly also signs then at least there’s some ammo for next season sorted

  • Alan says:

I always stick up for pelly, think he is a hard working player I’ve said before his critics only pick up on the negatives. Every midfielder in any side in any league lose the ball or misplace a pass … if he was that perfect he wouldn’t be with us anyway……I would be gutted if he left, but in some ways I hope he does as he would take some replacing and the pelly haters would have to find another scapegoat….

  • jimbo says:

alan,i will gladly stick up for pelly, but only if his performance improves.then maybe the so called pelly haters would disappear. why people pick up on his negatives,is because he has so many in a game. i am sure myself and the other so called pelly haters would be more then happy to praise him, but he has to improve now. he has done a great job for luton, but that is past, look to the future. i want every player at luton to play well, and agree that every player has off days, but some have to many off days. also not looking for scapegoats.COYH
