Luton – Million Pound Offer On Table For Defender

Image for Luton – Million Pound Offer On Table For Defender

Back in early June, here at Vital Luton Town, we ran an article relating to the possible acquisition of a defender.

Our article – luton-town-linked-with-purchase-of-a-defender – concentrated on the possible signing of Antonios Papadopulous.

Since our article was published, we’ve heard nothing to suggest that a deal could be concluded.

However, today we have learned, via ruhrnachrichten, that his current club, Borussia Dortmund, are still evaluating whether the player has a future with the club and that Luton Town’s seven-figure offer remains on the table.

If the deal can be pushed through, then Papadopoulos could be the perfect fit on the left side of the Hatters central defence.

The transfer window has another two weeks to run, could this possibly be Luton’s last deal of what has been a hectic summer?

What are your thoughts on this possible signing?

Please feel free to have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.

Morning MH Given our lack of goals scored should we be spending a million on a defender? Was Potts to blame for any of the goals scored recently I don’t think so. If not for him scoring a goal we would be in an even worse position. If I was him I would move elsewhere where his contribution would be more valued.

Tonight we will see if our newly signed strikers are worth the money spent I hope so as we need to send a message to our fellow championship sides and supporters that we can still be playoff contenders.

Hi mh, now I can’t confirm this but there has been a new face seen at the club today. Not the German but someone else. Maybe Alan has seen them and can confirm it?

  • Alan says:

I’ve been at the brache this morning, quite a bit being said about comings & goings, but nothing concrete….not sure a bad result tonight will start questions, panic merchants already starting…..its a long season….

    • Chris winter says:

Lol surely you’re joking Alan. We’ve only played 3 games!!!! Look at Nottingham last season we can do the same can’t we.

    • Alan says:

Not my thoughts chris,,,,,surely you’ve heard and seen comments too…..

      • Alan says:

MH, just posted on the same subject…..I personally think we have the squad & the coaching staff to have a very good season again….but that’s my opinion…

      • Chris winter says:

Alan I was being sarcastic about the idiots. Who think we are in trouble already. Not you mate.

Just a thought, if we’re willing to pay a million or more for this Greek guy playing in Germany would it not of been a good idea to pay Naismith ten bob a week extra? My guess is that his wages if he comes won’t be peanuts. COYH

  • Alan says:

    I know bud….

  • Scotty says:

He’s (Naismith) not exactly tearing trees up at BCFC is he? Perhaps last season was a flash in the pan and he’s done in?

  • Chris winter says:

Very disappointed with the loan of gomes to Fleetwood. Especially with according to nj we have an injury crisis already. An it looks like 2 kids from our summer signings one only played cos of the situation at his club the other injury prone.

  • jimbo says:

take a deep breath and calm down. the win will come, and when it does , enjoy it. we have a good team, they just got to click. looking forward to see how naismith plays.,think we need to use subs wisely, and also hope no more injuries. COYH.

    • Chris winter says:

Jimbo it’s got nothing to do with performance at the minute but 2 kids just arrived. An likely given squad places yet gomes an perriera likely to be loaned out. That’s not justice or loyalty to them. If we lose them it’s a disgrace.

      • Steve Bahrain says:

Didn’t know Periera was injured for the Preston match, as I said we don’t seem to be able to use his name without ‘loan’ preceeding it. Hopefully he is still in the picture after a good pre-season and flashes of trickery/assist in the cup playing out of position.
Disappointed with Gomes but hopefully he can find form at Fleetwood and grow confidence again.

        • Chris winter says:

Yes Steve, but does he deserve it. When Watson an doughty will probably get in the squad? If you or I were young ambitious players wouldn’t you rather get regular football at a team who want you even at a lower level. Then get a free from your club by running your contract out an getting a free transfer so you can either move up or play lower league an shine an move up again. That’s my likely sinaro from this situation!!!!

          • Steve Bahrain says:

Doesn’t deserve it no. Typo, meant disappointed about Gomes… Not disappointed by Gomes. Sorry
