Luton – Midfielder Joins Elite Club

On Saturday, Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu made his 300th appearance for Luton Town Football Club.

In doing so, Pelly joined the exclusive club of those that have reached that figure.

The midfielder initially joined Luton on loan from West Ham United on 28-November-2013, joining permanently on 28-January-2014.

Since joining the club, Pelly has contributed to 3 promotion campaigns, doing his bit to haul the club back from non-league football to the heights of the Championship.

This summer he put pen-to-paper on a new contract with the Hatters, after his contract had expired and taking time to deliberate over his future.

During his 300 appearances for the club, he has managed just 19 goals, hardly the best goals-games ratio and, at times, his contributions have split the support.

But, after celebrating his 300th appearance with a goal, social media has been alive with supporters expressing their views on his contributions, below are some of those that are typical of what I found:

Now I am not sure about the last post, there are, in the Hatters Hall of Fame, several others ahead of Pelly in that particular queue but reaching 300 appearances, in times when players seem keen to move around, is a fantastic achievement.

Hi all. This day and age not many will play 300+ for one club…..

Hi all, glad he got there I think it would have been sad if he had left and played 298 games . Was a shame we didn’t get anything out of the game to celebrate his achievement . But that’s Luton town for you . Coyh

I am not sure what NJ means when he says that Pelly is still a work in progress, rough and careless at times. If he is still not enough why do we let him play 300 games. He gave the ball away 28 times on Saturday and we dont have a cohesive midfield yet this season.
