Luton Linked With Another January Signing

Next Sunday, the January transfer window will slam shut, between now and then it remains to be seen whether Luton Town will bring anybody else to the club.

Today, lurking in the pages of Football Insider 24/7, is the insinuation that the Hatters are among a host of clubs who are interested in signing a player currently on the books of the League 1 side Gillingham.

Seemingly, if our source is right, Luton Town, along with Nottingham Forest, Preston North End and Barnsley, are looking at the availability of Kyle Dempsey.

Dempsey, who has made 20 appearances for Gillingham, in all competitions this season, netting on 4 occasions, could be available despite only joining Gillingham last summer, from Fleetwood Town.

However, while the Hatters support are screaming out for a striker to be signed – luton-support-highlight-what-the-club-needs, Demspey, the Gillingham captain, is a central midfielder.

Now I have to ask whether Nathan Jones sees Dempsey as a long term buy possibly with one eye on the return of the excellent Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to his parent club, Leicester City, at the end of the season.

Your thoughts on this particular piece of transfer speculation would be most appreciated in the comment facility beneath this article.

Hi mh, personally for me in this window it has to be 1or 2 strikers as the now is imperative. At the end of the season I forecast 5 or 6 of the present squad leaving an then nj will have time to restock for next season.

As per previous comments, we must get in 1 or 2 strikers – whether on loan or permanent. I’m bemused by people saying “well, where will we get a 15 goal a season striker”. We don’t need that. Our current strike force of Collins and Cornick have scored 6 goals in a combined 42 appearances, which is woeful. We need more creativity, speed and better finishing up front. That is clear to everyone. No more defenders and no more midfielders thank you !

Yeh. Collins has played 22 and Cornick 20. So 6 goals is a shocking return

Matty pearson cant get a place in the defence…give him ago upfront….not afraid to put himself about….couldn’t do much worse….

    Good shout Alan
Also put Shea back in goal, sell Sluga and get a decent striker for the money, but can’t see us getting 1.5Mil for him now
