Luton – It Was One Of Those Silly Smile Moments

To me, there’s no doubt that Nathan Jones is a far better tactician than Graeme Jones.

If it had still been Graeme Jones in charge last night, I believe there would have been no way Luton would have gotten a valuable point.

But it is also fair to say it’s not just about tactics since his return Nathan appears to have galvanized the squad and confidence is higher than it has been for months.

You get the feeling that with Nathan in charge the Hatters have a plan and, as the pre-match warm-up injury to Glen Rea proved, a plan B.

Okay, last night might not have been pretty and Luton had to dig deep to ensure that they took a point, but you just got this feeling there was a togetherness about the side that had previously been missing.

Okay, we could have gone gung-ho looking for all three points, but Nathan knew that could well be footballing suicide against the best side in the Championship.

Afterwards, as reported by The BBC Nathan was delighted with the way his side performed, remarking:

“Defensively I thought we were excellent. It’s a wonderful performance and a wonderful point – I would love to be more fluent but they gave me everything and tactically we got it right.

“We denied them space and pressed in a certain way – we were very disciplined.”

We were and I’m probably not the only Hatter who went to bed last night with a silly smile on their face.
