Luton – It Is The Same Old Story

On Saturday, away to Wycombe Wanderers, it looked very much, until a dramatic late change around, Luton would be on the end of an embarrassing defeat against the bottom of the table club.

Thankfully, three late goals put a completely different complexion on events and what was looking like a doom-laden evening suddenly brightened up.

But, once again, that familiar word inconstancy raised its ugly head.

For the first forty-five minutes it was another lacklustre performance and only the introduction of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harry Cornick, at the break and Kazenga LuaLua shortly after changed things around.

In his post-match interview, with The BBC, Nathan Jones seemed as frustrated as us when he remarked:

“We felt at half-time we were nowhere near it first half. We brought on real quality and it showed.”

Indeed, such was the difference in the level of performance, the following post, on social media, summed it up perfectly:

Continuing, the gaffer also spoke about the sending-off and the difference the substitutions made, further adding:

“Some will say the sending off changed the game, I’m sure it helped, 100%, but I think half-time actually helped the most.

With regards to the sending off, perhaps we should consider the following:

Further remarking, Nathan also added:

“We regrouped, changed the shape a little bit, and started on the front foot. I thought we were excellent second half.”

Yes, we were but it is so infuriating to view this inconsistency on such a regular basis, get it sorted Nathan!

Hi all, we have been inconsistent, but apart from a couple of teams in and around the top 4 so has everyone else…we need to remember how we’ll we have done to maintain our status.
Still can’t get over a comment made yesterday that ” we are only in 13th because teams below us aren’t as good as we are” really…..some people……

      Alan,
I’m sure you will get over it, but If you are going to quote someone, make sure you get the wording correct.

Couldn’t have been far off as you knew what I was referring too…I am over it…just found it amusing…

morning all, yes Alan, there’s been some utterly embarrassing comments posted over the past week regarding NJ, Collo, Pearson, Bree and of course the usual no.1 target Pelly – ZZzzz enough said i think.
Whilst i’d love to see us be consistent week in week out I would also happily take another season like this one where we continue to consolidate our place in the Championship whilst improving on our finishing position from the previous season, we are currently 4 points of a top ten finish folks !
We’ve invested good money wisely in the transfer market and most importantly we’ve spent within our means and actually made a profit unlike many other basket case clubs in this division who are losing millions every season.

We all should be so so thanfull to even be in the Championship as our support & income is more League 1.
To be 13th is AMAZING ! REMEMBER THE PANDEMIC HAS CRIPPLED OUR FINANCES !!
We just need to be so so thankfull & quit picking on players.
I dont believe there is 1 single regular squad player you could fault for endevour & commitment to the club.
Collo has been a fantastic servant & needs all our encouragement during his dry spell. I am sure he is more upset with himself than all his critics when a good chance goes begging .
Pelly is very loyal, keep knocking him & a bigger club will snap him up as a freebie , he is worth a few million at least. & Glen has been a rock for years, his return from injury last season was a major factor in our great escape . I rea;lly like Moncs too, & Elliot . Would love to see both stay & be given starts.

  • Jonathan says:

Knock our best players &b they will leave on freebies.

Collo has lots of admirers in the Championship, would also love Elliot to be given another chance next season,he is very skillfull.

TEAM SPIRIT is all important, Pelly embodies this & very popular with the Lads & lifting moral.

Lose too many of the core promotion team & team spirit could go sideways.

There are some very very talented teams below us ,who lack our spirit of unity.

Team spirit is our #1 assett & weapon, dontn bust it up !

  • Danny says:

i remember this time last season Gary Sweet used the phrase “we would be facing financial oblivion” should we be relegated back to League 1 ! The gap between League 1 & the Championship is financially massive & god knows where that would of left us with the new ground being built.
