Luton should at last see some action this afternoon after a long break due to the poor weather of December.

Rushden are the visitors and they play their first match since the unfortunate death of their young goalkeeper Dale Roberts and sees the return to Kenilworth Road of Kevin Nicholls who has taken up a coaching role at the Nene Park club.

The unscheduled break in activity sees the Hatters with a fixture pile up over the next few months, and has left them with games in hand over their nearest rivals.

Other clubs are in a similar situation but Luton are better placed than most to cope, having one of the largest squads in the division.

Manager Richard Money admitted in his pre-match press conference, that the club made a bid for York City’s central defender David McGurk which was turned down by the Minstermen. He also stated that any bids for Hatters’players will be strongly resisted and that it is unlikely that there would be ‘much activity in or out’but didn’t rule it out completely.

However, as he also said, Luton got in early, tying up deals for Alex Lawless, Jason Walker and Charlie Henry ahead of the transfer window’s opening.
