In the dying moments of the fixture, away to Brentford, the look on Tom Lockyer’s face told its own story.

After an innocent skirmish with Ivan Toney, our summer signing from Charlton Athletic was shown a straight red-card, meaning the centre-back would receive a three-game ban.

In our article – luton-want-to-see-a-wrong-righted – we covered the fact that the gaffer, Nathan Jones, was convinced that whatever did occur was never worthy of a red-card and that the club would be appealing.

On Friday afternoon, the appeal verdict came through with the authorities rescinding the red-card thereby negating the three-game ban.

Considering our record when it comes to dealing with the authorities it was a decision greeted with an element of surprise by the Hatters support, on social media, as the following illustrate perfectly:

But when it came to a comment that made me smile, especially considering the draconian punishments that normally befall us, the one below hit the mark perfectly:

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Lockyer is selected in the starting eleven to face Chelsea, on Sunday, or is rested by the boss.

My view is that he should start as I believe Chelsea, on a run of poor form, are there for the taking.
