Luton Defender Set To Leave The Club

Back in July 2019, the Hatters secured the services of Brendan Galloway from Everton.

Galloway, now 24-years-of-age, was seen as an asset to the squad being able to play as a left-back or as a left-sided centre-back and arrived on a free transfer.

However, the defender never really got to establish himself in the side making just a couple of appearances before a bad knee injury saw him side-lined for in excess of a year.

Since returning from injury, Galloway has made just one solitary appearance for the Hatters, coming on as a substitute in the recent FA Cup 3rd round win against Reading.

With the January transfer window open, it is looking, if the speculation is correct, Galloway could be heading for the Kenilworth Road exit.

According to The Shropshire Star, the defender could be headed to Shrewsbury Town, dropping down a division to resume his career.

When it comes to a transfer fee for the player, I suspect Luton will not be receiving anything more than a nominal fee, but in these pandemic driven times, just removing the player from the salary books makes financial sense if he has no long-term future at the club.
