It was reported in Sunday`s Non-League Newspaper that Crawley Town have made a serious offer for Hatters star Keith Keane, believed to be in the region of £150K. (Serious offer? They cannot be serious!)

23 yr old Keane committed his future to the Hatters a few weeks ago and it seems unlikely that the Hatters would consider any offer for the player let alone a derisory one of £150K for a player who could probably get a game in the Championship.

New investors at Crawley have recently been throwing money around including the purchase of Matt Tubbs for £70,000 and Peterborough United winger Sergio Torres allegedly for £100K, and under manager Steve Evans, famous for his ‘unusual’ dealings at Boston, it is believed that they are looking for several more high profile players before the season starts.

It will be interesting to see whether they can sustain such investment on average home gates of less than 3000. ( I thought that there was some kind of wage cap based on income?)

Meanwhile the Hatters return to the more mundane process of pre-season training after a jaunt to Portugal and the same newspaper suggests that Luton have said they will give Crawley an answer on Tuesday.

Manager Richard Money described Keane’s re-signing as the most important piece of the jigsaw, so I doubt he would approve of any move to sell him.
