Luton Boss Praises Excellent Performance At Reading

Last night when Allan Campbell scored the Hatters second goal, to wrap up the win away to Reading, Nathan Jones celebrations were a little muted.

Yes, he did pump the air in celebration but the strike, from close range, didn’t see the boss slide along the ground, on his knees, like he did for Kal Naismith’s last-gasp winner against Bournemouth.

Perhaps the memories of hurting his knees and tweaking his hamstring were enough to put him off.

But, nevertheless, Nathan was extremely proud of the performance his side gave, with the gaffer remarking, as reported by The BBC:

“I thought we were excellent, our application was brilliant, we defended our box really well to limit their chances and we threatened at times. We had enough quality to win the game.

“We had a real element of control. The pitch was really poor and it was very tricky to move the ball, and every time we moved it into midfield it was kind of dangerous, but our front two were excellent all night, a real threat.

“We’ve managed to jump into the top half with games in hand so it shows we are in a decent place, but we’ve got to go away from home again on the weekend. It’s a tough, tough schedule.”

Indeed, it is, but Sheffield United (a) is a game we can get something from if the application matches that shown in the last three games.

Right now, I get the impression that Luton Town are on the up and although promotion is viewed, by some, as not being on the agenda, there’s no reason why we can’t push for a top eight finish.

Morning mh, like you I can’t get carried away yet about where we will finish. If we keep up our consistency like you we could finish 8th but let’s wait till we have 5 or 6 games left then we will know our likely place an can celibate.

Hi all, well that’s a good result last night and I hope it may continue , this game against Sheffield United is going to be a lot harder but if we come away with a point the I will be very happy it would be a good result. I don’t think we should look to this window to improve this squad at the minute give this team a chance to show what it can do on a good run . Coyh

a very professional performance last night, their commentary saying we didn’t need to get out 3rd gear summed things up perfectly.
Good to see PK slot back into the side and play as if he’s never been away. It will take time for him to gain NJ’s trust and will be a solid back up to Bree once he returns from injury, whether he’s happy to do so i’m not so sure.

Think last night proved what Chris questioned early in the week, that we can take teams below us to task. Saturday will be a difficult game, definitely winnable, but even a draw would be a fine result. Long may this run continue….

Hi Alan, we still need to beat these teams consistently 1 win against a top team an 1 lower team an 10points from 12 is a start. But now let’s see if the next 4 league games get us a similar haul. That’s consistency an promotion form😊

It’s strange situation. Do we want, can we go up?. Obviously not, but as soon as a result doesn’t go our way the moaning starts. Hard to see what will keep people happy. Between 8th and 12th will do me for now. Get to 50 plus points asap.
