It was, to be honest, a result we all expected, if we are to believe our pre-match poll.
But the Hatters certainly took their time when it came to securing the three points on the line at Deepdale, against Preston North End, yesterday.
Indeed, it took a fortunate own goal for Luton Town to seal the 1-0 win and even then, we had to be reliant on Simon Sluga to produce a late save to ensure that our hosts did not take a share of the spoils.
It has certainly been a change in fortunes when compared to a year ago when the correct decision was taken to axe Graeme Jones and bring back Nathan Jones, a decision that could be deemed the best bit of business the Hatters hierarchy have done in the last eighteen months.
Following the narrow, but deserved win Nathan, as reported by The BBC had this to say:
“I’m delighted because I came back around this time last year and since then the group have been absolutely outstanding.
“We’re establishing ourselves as a Championship side and we’ve had targets of where we want to be and we’re hitting every single one.
“We’ve kept moving forward and that’s what we’ve got to keep doing because we feel we should be higher in the league.”
Yes, we could be if we had of taken the many chances that have fallen our way and eliminated the plethora of early goals, we have had a knack of conceding.
But, nevertheless, we can all feel proud that our club, in these complicated pandemic driven financial times, continues to punch above its weight.

Morning mh, what you say in the article is spot on. Ifs an buts we could be up with Barnsley as nj says. But as a realist could we really expect anymore. I don’t want to come across as a downer. But until we have a new stadium an if it can be filled week in an out our finances will restrict what sort of team we can build. Unless the crop of new players brought into the under 23 squad suddenly show they can step up an improve us. Next season. I think we need a clear out in the summer maybe as I’ve said before some players have been here to long an need a fresh challenge. Until we build our new stadium we need to improve and get to the play off finals a couple of times to boost our income. We can’t get to the prem with our current stadium. So no point expecting to. But with that income we may buy better players. Or another possibility is to become a preferred feeder club for a prem team with good loans given to us. This seems to me a way forward. But us fans must have patience for now.
totally agree Chris, of course, at the start of each season, we all have our undeliverable dreams, but to be safe in mid-March is an achievement we really should be proud of.
Yes we are proud of our club an it’s a good season. But some fans seem to think we have a right to be back in the prem now. And that can’t happen till we have a new stadium
It would be a huge backwards step, too much too soon, we would be exposed, progress has to be gradual, patience is the key word.
morning all, another excellent away result, yesterday was our EIGHTH 1 -0 away win of the season and this with two wingers playing in defence !
What a signing Naismith is turning out to be, his performances at centre half have been nothing short of superb. I’d like to see him paired up with Lockyer when fit, tough on Bradley and Pearson perhaps but i think they’d make us stronger at the back. Pelly was at his best yesterday, bossing the midfield like we know he can, finding the key to getting that kind of performance regularly still remains but he’s definitely on the keep/extend contract list.

Naismith has certainly turned his fortunes around, not rated in his first few games but excelling as a centre back
indeed MH and fair play to him, a remarkable turnaround from his initial couple of games where he looked a questionable signing to say the least. It will be Interesting to see what NJ does when Bradley & Lockyer are fit.
