Goodman International have submitted plans to South and Mid Beds District Councils for a 20,000-seat stadium along with a community sports facility and substantial warehousing for the Junction 12 site.

The stadium, designed by architects, Miller Partners, has the ability to be enlarged by a further 5000 seats, and the plans contain details of Mr Bassett’s proposal to gift Luton Town FC £25 million towards the stadium building costs, together with the 30 acres of land on which to build it.

Luton Town 2020, the consortium hoping to complete the next stage of their takeover of the club by Tuesday midnight’s deadline for exclusivity, have committed themselves to an Independant Feasibility Study to decide where the club’s new stadium should be built.

They have not ruled out the possibility that Junction 12 might be that site, but until the IFS has been done, they have refused to commit to Junction 12, despite pressure from Mr Bassett through the local media.
