As the month of December beckons, I’m not the only one who remains puzzled as to the whereabouts of a certain player.
Back in June, it was believed that the Hatters had pulled off a coup when, as their seventh signing of the summer, they signed Carlos Mendes Gomes.
The fee, as always seems to be the case these days, was undisclosed but it is believed he was the biggest signing of the summer.
One of the articles that greeted the players’ arrival – carlos-mendes-gomes-the-acid-test – contained several social media comments (some of which are reproduced below) which offered nothing but praise when it came to the player:

It looked as if we had captured a player who could make an impact.
However, since the 2021/2022 season started, Gomes has made just one start in the Championship, not a statistic we would have expected, even more so when you consider the social media comment below:

So, what has happened to Carlos Mendes Gomes?
Can anybody shed some light on the matter?
Is he injured?
Is he COVID stricken?
Is he being held back for some unknown reason?
Or have we found out that he simply is not Championship class?
It is a right old puzzler and I think, as supporters, somebody from inside the club should enlighten us!

Hi MH The answer is simple Nathan has lost the plot. The constantly changing of the team shows panic mode . Nathan should be upfront why players ( who cost a lot) are not playing. Chris W comments about Nathan being dogmatic is spot on Cohen and Hart need to change his attitude or are they just Yes men.

Alan with regards to jarvis you are a little unfair he cost nothing an he was only brought in because he showed promise an could be developed. It didn’t work out just like nombe an he is now at scunthorpe in div 2 like nombe. Morrell was a different kettle of fish!!!
I think you’ll find he means Jake Jervis. I’ve a dozen questions for Jones but keeping to the subject of Gomes, I’m an orange season ticket holder and have had a season ticket for longer than I care to remember. I also participated in Jones’s transfer kitty and it’s for these 2 reasons I believe I should have regular updates by the club on players availability and current situations. What’s the point of drawing a curtain, he’s either not good enough, not fit or doesn’t fit into Jones’s defensive mindset.

I think we bought players in the summer on the basis they were better or at least as good as the ones we already had. Otherwise no reason to do it. They are. It getting a chance to show it. Peter Kioso is now at MK for 1 mistake against Birmingham. Some of Saturdays team should now be in Alaska on that basis. Give them a chance to see what a team can be. Great servants Mpanzu and Hilton , but come on they are way below the class needed in this league now. No more mistakes please. Be criticised for pushing players early not when the bus has gone.
Yes where is Carlos Mendes Gomes, surely he deserves a chance, or is he going to go the way of Joe Morrell and Peter Kioso and why has Nathan started playing Harry Cornick in the middle of our attack, he is much better on the right wing. another thing about Nathan is his chopping and changing of personnel and formations, The changes for the Cardiff game were bizarre, considering we played reasonably well against Forest especially Campbell. We’ve had a lot of success when we play the high press Coventry, Swansea for 45 minutes why don’t we use this tactic. Like Mick and many of the supporters who donated money to the transfer budget an update to what is happening to the so called lost players would be appreciative. Especially Carlos who must be totally frustrated in what has happened to his career.

Tell us all exactly why CMG is not playing !!!

Watch recordings of the way we played against for example, Coventry and consider doing exactly the same against upcoming opposition, regardless of who they are and their set up.
Then we can get back on track on the field & know what’s happening off it…..
i really hope peter kioso comes back to luton, had high hopes for him. also dion pereira. two great prospects. seem to be living in hope recently. we will get there.COYH.
