On Tuesday, the Hatters play their last home of the 2020/2021 season when they welcome Rotherham United to Kenilworth Road for a Championship fixture.

With the Hatters sat in mid-table, it could be said that it is a typical end-of-season game for Nathan Jones side.

But that is not the case for our opponents, Rotherham United.

The Millers will arrive at Kenilworth Road fighting to avoid the dreaded drop into League One, a fear we faced at the corresponding stage of last season.

Rotherham know their future is in their own hands, if they can win at Kenilworth Road, they will climb out of the bottom three and everything will then rest on their final fixture of the season, against Cardiff City.

Indeed, a Rotherham win, on Tuesday, will see Derby County, managed by Wayne Rooney, plunged into the bottom three, a far cry from a couple of seasons ago when, managed by Frank Lampard, they competed in the Championship Play-Off Final against Aston Villa.

It is a game that Luton cannot afford to take lightly, and, because of the implications of the result, Sky Sports have decided to show the game live, with the kick-off being moved to 19:15 hours, the last time the Hatters will be featured live, on TV, this season.

At the time of writing, the Hatters are strong favourites to win this fixture with 80% of the votes cast, in our poll, opting for a Luton win.

But, if they do not start strongly, Rotherham could take advantage as they have so much more to play for.

Ahead of the Middlesbrough fixture, we pondered whether Nathan Jones would select a few youngsters, that did not happen, and I fully expect the boss to stick with those who have served him this season for this game.

I am going for a 2-0 Luton win, but will the curse of the Sky Sports cameras give Rotherham heart going into a game they need to win?

  • Morning mh, I’m about to post a most a very controversial thing. I personally have the wish that Rotherham beat us on Tuesday night. Why because like us they are a hard working little town team who have overcome great adversity this season. And are more worthy of a place in the division than either Derby or Sheffield weds. Sadly Wycombe will not be able to save themselves. But I would love Rotherham to.

  • I believe Rotherham’s last match is at.Cardiff – Wednesday go to Derby. Like Chris l would like them to stay up. An entertaining draw tomorrow, then a win in Wales, while the other two draw would suit !

  • morning all, totally get where your coming from Chris, i just can’t bring myself to say i hope we lose. I’d certainly prefer Rotherham to stay up over two so called big clubs who got caught cheating. I think it’s still possible for Rotherham to stay up even if they lose to us due to their superior goal difference providing we don’t hammer them and they win their last game and Derby/Sheff don’t win by a big score.

    • Hi Danny, that’s my thinking as well I know there’s still a few permutations for them to escape but let those who cheated get their just deserts

      • yes Chris, still don’t get why Derby haven’t had points deducted though, they should be down already in my view

  • sorry, scrap that last part, if Rotherham do lose to us they would need to win their last game and hope Derby lose and Sheff Wed don’t win by a few goals

  • Strange comments….I agree teams should be punished of course…but wanting luton to lose, really….don’t care what the situation is and I don’t remember any other team giving a shite about us last season with 2 games to go….luton win for me 100%…

  • Hi! Caz from Vital Rotherham here. Thanks all for your kind words. Isn’t football great!
