Luton Town today announced that Midfielder Adam Murray has been allowed to join Mansfield Town on loan with a view to a permanent signing in January when the transfer window reopens.

His choice of club is not too surprising since he has had two successful spells with the Stags, but it seems surprising that Richard Money is prepared to let a summer signing go so early in the season when he expressed being so excited about capturing the player.

He made 7 appearances for Luton and never let them down but obviously he is no longer in the manager’s plans.

Luton are well served in the midfield department with Howells being so versatile and Keith Keane returning to full fitness and form, and George Pilkington has shown that he can play the central midfield role too.

Personally I would have thought that Murray rated higher in the pecking order than Pavel Besta, unless Besta has achieved full fitness and shown in training something he has yet to bring to match play.
