Luton – A Top Eight Finish Is Possible

Ahead of the trip, on Sunday, to take on Bristol City in a Championship fixture, we used our poll to ask a crucial question.

On the back of our recent form and with, at the time, four games left to play, we wanted to know if you believed the Hatters could secure a top-10 finish.

The result of our poll was quite emphatic with 90% choosing the YES option and only 10% choosing the NO option.

The 3-2 win, against Bristol City, lifted Luton to 11th place in the table, just 2 points behind 10th place Queens Park Rangers, a side who we play our last game of the season against, at Loftus Road.

But, studying the table, the opportunity is there for Luton Town to finish higher than 10th.

The Hatters next opponents are Middlesbrough, at Kenilworth Road, a side who are just 3 points above us.

That is followed by a home game against Rotherham United, a side facing relegation.

If Luton can take maximum points from those two games, then we could be heading to West London, on the final day of the season, knowing a decent result will see Luton clinch a marvellous 8th place if a few other results go our way.

Now wouldn’t that be a wonderful end to the season but is it feasible?

finishing in 8th place on our budget would be a truly remarkable achievement all things considered, not too shabby for an inconsistent side, imagine what we could achieve with some consistency in our play

Hi all, while I appreciate the comments about the final position. I for one don’t mind where we finish now. My thoughts are let’s blood people like perraria an addy Chambers isted now an see if they can perform on this stage give youth its chance. There are others to who have been patient and should get a little run of games now is the time to do it.

good point Chris, finishing 8th could give us false hope for next season and a stiff task to live up to

Exactly mh we have discussed this before we cannot go up to the prem till we have a n ew stadium. So for now we must consolidate. Build the strength of the team aiming for top 10 finish next season. Then in years 2 to 4 aim for the play offs an build our finances with a couple of losing Wembley finals. I know fans won’t want to hear this but we have to be sensible about this. An only this way can we progress pleat did it with players brought on from the ranks an sensible buying. Sadly we no longer have the old style scouting system. Which brought so much from Scotland and Wales. So improving the u18 an u23 squads is a must for us. We can’t do what the scum an Norwich do. This is our logical pathway to the prem
