Luton – A Game Of Two Different Halves

If ever there was a game of two halves then yesterday, against Sheffield Wednesday was it.

It was a game that really did put the supporters through the emotional wringer.

With Nathan Jones selecting almost the same side that had excited the Hatters support against Millwall in midweek, it was expected that Luton could brush aside a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side who have struggled to get results away from home.

But the first forty-five minutes were, for Luton supporters, painful to watch. The side never looked to be at the races and went into the half-time break losing 2-0, courtesy of 2 goals from Josh Windass.

Naturally, the performance did not go down well with the Hatters support and flicking through the social media comments, there was an air of resignation, as the following show:

But the second half was completely different, quite what Nathan Jones said to his side during the break I would love to know, but Luton came out and produced a thrilling comeback that saw the side not only claw back the deficit but go on to score a late winner, delighting those watching from their homes.

Such was the turnaround in fortunes, the mood on social media swung completely the other way, with the support rapturous at how their heroes had come back from what looked to be a certain defeat:

And I will gladly admit neither did I, with such a woeful first half performance I was anticipating the Hatters being on the end of a home thrashing.

But returning to the old question:

We would certainly like to know, did he walk into the dressing room and unleash a torrent of abuse, or did he address them calmly or perhaps he adopted the tactics of the late Graham Taylor who, when in charge of Aston Villa in a cup game against Crewe, saw his side end the fist half losing 2-0, simply waked into the dressing room and said:

“You gentlemen got us into this mess and you gentleman can get us out of it.”

Before exiting the dressing room just seconds after walking into it!

Either way, as the poster below confirms:

Indeed, it was.

Morning mh, well after yesterday’s fun and games. In the cold light of day Mr doom an gloom Alan’s words😁. Thought he would reiterate his words of yesterday. Yes a win smile. But you cannot hide from the fact that. This division is so tight that anyone from 43 points downwards could still be relegated. It only takes two losses an 2 wins from a lower club to change the look of the table. Which leads me to my point. Why can’t we find any consistency is it fatigue is it the players not good enough tactics these questions at the moment are unanswerable. But such poor performance are blighting our season. Instead of being comfortable in a midtable position. I am now totally convinced having watched so many games on TV. That the problem is no fans😁 an I’m sure clubs are thinking the same. It’s unpresidented for so many away wins that it has to be no fans that’s the problem. Thank god it looks likely to happen next season that fans will be back

hi chris, wasnt having a pop m8, just think after such a poor 1st half we should enjoy the final out come more….. the league is so tight because apart from the top 4 or 5 nobody is in consistent form, is not just us. i mentioned months ago the lack of fans is affecting us, which was proved by the norwich and preston results, are best to home performances by far…..

Hi Alan, I knew you weren’t having a pop m8. I was being self-deprecating ha ha. This division has always been the toughest of any div apart from the national league to be in.

afternoon happy hatters & Chris lol, still buzzing after yesterday’s result, it had been 17 long years since we last saw our team come from 2 – 0 down and win a game, ironically it happened at home to Sheff Wed in 2004 where we also trailed 2 – 0 at half time and came back to win 3 – 2 .

Glad to see 99% have their glass half full and are enjoying the moment 🙂
