Luton – A Debut From Hell

Image for Luton – A Debut From Hell

I suspect, given the unexpected opportunity, Matt Ingram was delighted to make an emergency loan move to the Hatters.

But I can’t help trying to comprehend how he felt as he returned to the away dressing room, at Craven Cottage, after being part of a side that had been thrashed 7-0.

I’d imagine the dressing room was an eerie place as everyone tried to take in just what had happened.

I’m guessing matters were not improved by the noise the Fulham supporters were making as they celebrated clinched the title.

As far as Ingram is concerned, it could be deemed as the debut from hell!

But, although the Hatters were soundly beaten, could Ingram be faulted for any of the 7 goals?

My view is that the majority of the strikes gave Ingram little or no chance but it didn’t stop some social media posters from heaping the blame on the new boy, as the following illustrates:

A harsh comment I feel.

But the 7-0 thrashing has, once again, resulted in calls for Luton to ignore the emergency loan protocol and start with Harry Isted, between the posts, for the now crucial final Championship fixture, against Reading, this Saturday:

But, given this opportunity, I must remind you that this problem has been dealt with before, during the time when the West Bromwich Albion keeper, Alex Palmer, was also with Luton on an emergency loan – palmer-must-start-at-middlesbrough – and as the rules clearly point out:

So, it seems that despite possible wishes to the contrary, Matt Ingram will be between the posts against Reading.

Therefore, with that being the case, let’s all get behind the lad and give him the confidence boost he may need after that 7-0 mauling.

Morning mh, some of those posts are a disgrace. Ingram was not to blame for the defeat Fulham took us apart playing great football an our inept display. Joined on Sunday never had a proper training session knew only Burke in the team. Want to bet Sat he’ll be a hero then watch the same people rave about him 🤔🤔🤔 football a funny game.

With that amount of help. Poor lad had no chance

It was a bad decision by Luton to go for an emergency goalie anyway – if I was Isted I would be laughing all the way to the training ground. LTFC rightly treated James Shea the right way then crapped all over Harry Isted! He is 25 and a good goalie – the chances of him getting injured must be very low to zero if he did the kid could play. Then get an emergency in for the playoffs

Do you not read posts we only had a kid for back up. If we lost isted at Fulham we were f***ked. We had to have another keeper an we couldn’t get a prem keeper due to the rules. An he hasn’t played enough to be classed as a regular keeper. Under the rules Ingram has to play. As to isted not getting injured that is nonsense look at us 2 bad injuries to keepers.

we all know football supporters are the most fickle of people. all these different opinions ,are what keeps this forum interesting. i dont care who is in goal, although i prefer isted, its the players in front of the goalie that really matters. win or lose, i am happy to get this far. keep enjoying it.COYH.
