When Alex Lawless opened the scoring for Luton, at Sixfields, yesterday, we hoped that it would be a turning point.

Luton`s recent run of form has been woeful and before Lawless opened the scoring yesterday, our hosts were well on top.

But, despite going ahead, Luton couldn`t hang on and two goals from Northampton, one a controversial penalty, saw Luton slip to a sixth successive defeat, or to put it bluntly, no points taken from the last eighteen available.

Talking to the local media following yet another defeat, Lawless had this to say about his goal,

‘It’s nice to score but it means nothing when you don’t win. It’s just disappointing.

‘To score first, which we haven’t done for a bit, we felt like we could go on and at least get a point out of it but it wasn’t to be. The lads are absolutely gutted.’

And so they should be, what had the potential to be another marvellous season is fast turning out to be something of a nightmare!
