It Is Decision Time Regarding This Luton Midfielder

One of life’s biggest puzzles, well that may be a slight exaggeration, is why George Moncur does not get more game time for the Hatters.

Moncur, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has, to put it mildly, been used sparingly by Nathan Jones since the gaffer returned to Kenilworth Road for a second spell.

But, after coming on in the 76th minute, against Wycombe Wanderers, Moncur changed the game scoring a free kick that saw Luton draw level and then being involved in LuaLua’s goal to put Luton ahead in the game.

However, Moncur is out of contract at the end of this season, and it looks like he could be headed for the exit.

Is that something the midfielder wants though?

Well, according to Luton Today, that does not appear to be the case with George quoted as having remarked about his situation:

“I love it here, I’m not going to beat around the bush, I love training every day, I love the boys, I love everyone about the place.

“I’m not going to play every game, I don’t expect to, so who knows what happens in the future, but I’m happy where I am at the minute, so we’ll go from there.”

Which leads us on nicely to your input in this article.

Do you believe Moncur should be used more and should be offered a new deal?

Morning mh, like you I don’t understand njs thinking regarding moncs. For me he’s been underused an undervalued. He’s the best dead ball kicker at the club. An makes kdh look like a novice. An makes him worth starting for that ability alone. Yet nj obviously does not. So will nj keep him I suspect not. He wants to stay an that surprises me as why stay when the manager undervalue you. He’s not the first player to be treated like this an won’t be the last. Many have gone on an found the right club an been very successful if he does go I for one will miss him. Especially if he comes back to haunt us!!!

i like moncur, but like you, cannot undersand why he dosent play more regularly. if he does go ,would be a loss. we wont have kdh forever, and should be bringing people like moncur into the team, more than a match for kdh.lets hope some of the youngsters get a chance now.C.O.Y.H.

morning chaps, i think NJ has got some very tough decisions to make about which players to retain for next season. For me Moncs and Lua Lua are proven to be match winners and both are worthy of new 1yr deals but NJ needs to give them the chance to show they’re worthy of that contract over the remaining 6 games. If we were to let them go who is out there we could realistically afford with their ability and experience ? Like Chris said Moncs is on a different level to our other players when it comes to what he can do from set pieces, still a good age at 27 he would be sorely missed if he left.

I have been saying it all season, Moncur is the most creative player we have and we always look dangerous going forward when he plays. I would be gutted to see him go. Just want to see more of him.
