Some six years ago Luton Town sold Steve Howard to Derby County.

Howard was a Hatters hero and in the 228 games he played for Luton he hit the net 103 times, quite a feat you`ll agree.

Derby paid Luton a fee of £1 million for his services. Since that move, Howard has played for several clubs but now find himself, at the age of 37, without a contract.

Howard had been on the books of Hartlepool United and whilst there had netted 3 times in 45 games.

This weekend his contract was ended by mutual consent with Howard remarking,

“Everything has been amicable.”

“I wish all the players and staff well for the rest of the season, I really hope they can go on and have a successful campaign.”

Is this the end for Howard, or is there another chapter in his career still to be told?
