Hatters Unbeaten Run Ends Despite Being The Better Team

After a run of four consecutive games, in all competitions, without losing, the Hatters run came to an end at the Keepmoat Stadium, on Saturday, against Doncaster Rovers.

The Hatters lost 2-1 and slipped to 11th in the League One table.

Cheered on by their vociferous travelling support, the Hatters fell behind after just six minutes when Matty Blair scored a fine individual goal. Picking the ball up near the halfway line, Blair surged forwards before beating James Shea, in the Hatters goal, with a shot into the far corner of the net from eighteen yards out.

Stunned at conceding so early, the Hatters fought back and dominated play with Elliot Lee, James Collins and Jorge Grant all going close to grabbing an equaliser.

The equaliser did come before half-time when in stoppage time, after the Hatters had forced a succession of corners, Elliot Lee was on hand to head home after an assist from Dan Potts.

Unfortunately, the Hatters started the second half poorly and were to go behind in the 46th minute when, with just thirty-five seconds of the half played, Ben Whiteman saw his shot, after an effort from Blair had only been half-cleared, deflected in.

As had been the case in the first-half, Luton looked the likelier side to score the next goal with Mpanzu and Potts both going close, but the home side hung on to take the three points.

Next up for the Hatters is a home fixture, at Kenilworth Road, against Bristol Rovers next Saturday.
