Last week we reported on the speculation linking Cameron McGeehan with a move away from Kenilworth Road.

In our article we covered old ground suggesting that McGeehan`s absence from the side, due to his fractured leg, was a prime reason why Luton Town Football Club are not playing in League One next season.

Unfortunately, the speculation we discussed last week is now reality.

It has been confirmed, just as we feared, McGeehan has signed for the Championship side Barnsley.

The midfielder, who joined Luton Town from Norwich City, has signed a three-year deal with the Yorkshire club.

As for the transfer fee, those familiar words, undisclosed are used.

Naturally the Barnsley manager, Paul Heckingbottom, is delighted at the signing remarking to the media,

“He has got a lot of experience in the game for someone so young and has already proved willing to relocate to better himself, so he will fit right in here. His energy and eagerness to learn will make him a valuable asset to the side.”

As for Nathan Jones, the boss had this to say to the media about the loss of our inspirational 22-year-old midfielder,

‘This one worked out to be a good deal for the club, for Cameron and for the squad moving forward.”

Maybe, but it`s a dark day as far as our promotion hopes are concerned, you mark my words.
