Having been told by Crawley Town that their midfielder, Andy Drury, was not for sale, Hatters persistence has paid off.

The club have announced that the 30 year-old midfielder has signed on the dotted line for Luton.

With pre-season training starting today Drury was with the squad and has commenced a second spell at the club.

His first spell at Kenilworth Road saw Drury make 26 appearances back in the 2010 / 2011 season. That first spell ended when Drury signed for Ipswich Town for £150,000.

Speaking about finally getting his man, John Still is quoted as having remarked,

“We`ve had to be patient to sign Andy but now we have secured his signature I`m absolutely thrilled.”

“I`ve known Andy since he was at Ebbsfleet and last season, on the night we won the league, it was Andy who I was watching at Crawley.”

“I`ve always been an admirer and when I was told there might be a chance of signing him I jumped at it.”

“He`s a very experienced player and who has got that extra nous too. He`s played in the Championship and in League 1 in recent seasons and I know what he`s capable of.”

“I see Andy as a central midfield player but he is flexible enough to play in variety of positions and that`s always a big plus.”

“When we had the conversation it was clear he was keen to come back to Kenilworth Road because he left before he could help the club to promotion.”

“This year he could have stayed in League 1 but he has decided to join us again because he wants to push on – and, because he`s a good player, I am sure that will be the case.”

And as for the man himself, he`s commented to the club`s official news source,

“I`ve come back to Luton as a better player than when I left. “

“It`s a great opportunity for me, this club might be back in the Football League now but it is still not at the level it deserves to be.”

Vital Luton Town would like to welcome Andy Drury back to Kenilworth Road, here`s hoping your second spell as a Hatter is a hugely successful one.
